NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Tyrus has been quite successful in his run as Heavyweight Champion, running through the promotion with relative ease. Tyrus has been the champion since November 22, 2022, when he defeated Trevor Murdoch at the PPV “NWA Hard Times”. He has taken on all comers and is still the reigning NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion. At this point, he is untouchable. Or is he?

There are more than enough wrestlers in NWA who would like a crack at the title. Thom Latimer, Luke Hawx, and Mike Knox are just a few but Trevor Murdoch would most likely want a shot to reclaim his title. The NWA roster is filled with talent and someone is likely to step up and defeat Tyrusa for that coveted championship. But who and when? Two names stand out as the best options to beat him and those names are EC3 and Chris Adonis.

Tyrus, also a cable news personality for FOX News, is in the first major title reign of his wrestling career. His WWE career lasted two years when he arrived in TNA for four years, where he worked with EC3. He then went to the independent circuit for a while before making his debut with NWA  on March 21, 2021. Tyrus won his first major title, the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship, less than a year into his run the promotion.

EC3 is the top contender in the promotion to take that title off of Tyrus. EC3, the NWA National Champion, has been through the wars just like Tyrus and has had his run through the roster, just like Tyrus. EC3 may be the most gifted wrestler in NWA to not have won the biggest prize in NWA. EC3 and Tyrus have had a familiar road to NWA, as they have wrestled in the same promotions at roughly the same time. EC3 did win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, defeating Kurt Angle on the July 1, 2016, edition of IMPACT Wrestling. He has also appeared in Ring of Honor for one year. EC3 is the complete package, has a great physique, is great on the mic, and can be the top guy in any promotion. EC3 knows Tyrus from their days in WWE and TNA so he knows the good, the bad, and the ugly about Tyrus, potentially using that knowledge against him in future head-to-head matches. In his last 13 NWA matches, EC3 has won 11 of them. He is quickly climbing the ladder for a title shot.

Chris Adonis, formally Chris Masters in WWE, also has a good chance of dethroning Tyrus for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. At 6-foot-4 and 265 pounds, he has real potential to carry this company on his back and take down the entire roster. Adonis, a member of the faction Strictly Business, has come a long way in proving past promotions wrong about his in-ring talents. Like Tyrus and EC3, he wrestled for the same promotion in their rise to NWA stardom. They all know each other’s secrets and moves, which could be useful later if they compete against each other.  Adonis got a shot at Tyrus at NWA 312 series and went unsuccessful at claiming the title. He has the potential to take that title away in any given second. Adonis and EC3 are strong competitors. They still have potential in NWA. Adonis has won 17 of his last 30 matches in NWA, including four of his last five. He is in the running for a rematch with Tyrus for the title and could surprise if he comes away with the strap this time.
