Eli's MLB Rumors:
After 2 1/2 seasons, the Cubs have fired hitting coach Gerald Perry. The move comes after the teams .246 batting average, which ranks last among the National League. He will be replaced by Iowa Cubs hitting coach Von Joshua.
The move to bring in Joshua should certainly spark conversation about the possibility of bringing back Jake Fox.

Cubs Misplace Blame In Hitting Woes
by Matt SnyderFiled under: Cubs, NL CentralThe Chicago Cubs were the best offensive team in the National League in 2008. Statements like these are usually regarded as opinions, but this was an absolute fact. There's no way to argue against it. In 2009, the Cubs' offense pretty much sucks. It's pretty tough to argue with this as well. Naturally, Jim Hendry -- the Cubs...
Cubs Down on the Farm Report - 06/15/09
Here is your end of the week update from our Young Cubs. There was some interesting movement in the transaction log this week.
Brandon Guyer couldn't hit his weight at Tennessee so he got sent down to Daytona while Todd Blackford was throwing so poorly in Tennessee that I was surprised that Daytona was as far as he was demoted. Doug Deeds getting demoted to Tennessee was...

Luis Castillo, Milton Bradley No Longer Guilty Of The Week’s Most Shocking Baseball-Related Atrocities
Y’see, this is the kind of thing I’d be missing out on right now if I’d attended Blogs With Balls. Keep in mind it could be worse — I’ll never forget the time Vaughn Eshelman decided to liven up a raid delay with his version of The November Group’s “Pictures Of The Homeland”.

BDD: Title Does Dictate Behavior
At Baseball Digest Daily, I point out that, despite the screeching about Milton Bradley’s gaffes yesterday, we actually really like them.
This is the storyline that we as fans want, though. We would much rather see two teams of nine Milton Bradleys square off than two teams of David Ecksteins. Remember, besides the whole hunting-down-the-broadcaster thing, [...]
Lee's play in ninth helps Cubs end four-game skid
Last season, the Cubs took first place in the National League Central on May 11 and never gave it up. But even during their best season in decades, general manager Jim Hendry made a significant midseason trade, acquiring starting pitcher Rich Harden from the Oakland Athletics.

I'm Just A Fuzz Machine & I Don't Work For Nobody But You...
No official word yet as to whether or not the mysterious "fuzz machine" made the trip from Des Moines to Chicago along with Von [when there's somethin' wrong in the neighborhood who you gonna call?] Joshua. The unorthodox device is a pitching machine contraption that somehow both accelerates and decelerates a batter's swing, according to Carrie Muskat'...

Former White Sox star Frank Thomas gave Cubs outfielder Milton Bradley a vote of support Monday and predicted Cubs hitters might "take a step backward before they move forward" with new hitting coach Von Joshua, who was Thomas' hitting coach for four seasons on the South Side. Thomas made his comments on Comcast SportsNet, the network he will be serving as a guest commentator...
