TEAMS: Los Angeles Dodgers, Colorado Rockies
I've been trying to erase the past week from my mind, but for whatever reason, it just won't go away. The harsh reality of the situation is that so many things have gone wrong for the Dodgers over that time span that it's hard not to get at least a bit emotionally frustrated as a fan.I've noticed that the recent struggles have led even the more levelheaded commenters on this site to act as if they were ready to fall on a sword in the first inning. With the way things have been going lately, I can't say I blame them.
After the first inning run scoring double against Randy Wolf, I got a text message from my dad that was simple enough. It read:
Game over.My response? "Yup."
Don't get me wrong, i'm still thinking big picture, but I can't help but get angered in the moment like everybody else. For example, I got to a point yesterday where I lamented the fact that Manny Ramirez was up in a key situation instead of Andre Ethier or Matt Kemp. It was perhaps an irrational thought, but he didn't exactly restore my faith with his Golden Sombrero either.
Point being, we're all human, and I understand the anger at the time, but it's how you deal with your thoughts after you've had time to dwell on them that seperates the emotional mess of a fan from those who are able to keep their head.
To give a little context to the Dodgers struggles, try to remember that unless a fan's team is playing perfectly going into October, they usually think their favorite squad is headed for disaster.
Yesterday, I had a conversation with a friend who is a huge Cardinals fan, and the first thing he mentioned was how bad the Cardinals were. It went something like this:
"Dude, the Cardinals are terrible. We're gonna get swept by the Dodgers in the first round. Congrats, because I quit."After a few hours of watching the Dodgers flail away against Ubaldo Jimenez, he ended up changing his tune a bit.
"Have you watched the Dodgers play recently?
"Doesn't matter, the Cardinals made those trades for nothing, they are terrible."
"Hahaha. Watch the Dodgers with me today, we'll probably get shutout."
"I guess we both cheer for ****** teams. Should be a good series at least. Hahaha."Indeed.

Plenty of Pitching Questions Heading Into the Postseason
MLB Postseason Rotations: A few tidbits as we head into the final weekend of the regular season. The LA Dodgers appear to be ready to start Randy Wolf in game one of the postseason, regardless of opponent. Game 160 Thread: Oct. 2 vs. Brockies, 7p
Randy Wolf (11-6, 3.22) vs. Ubaldo Jimenez (14-12, 3.52).
Hello, this is Kent Brockman. In sports news, the Dodgers are ending their season with a meaningless series against Colorado, since the Dodgers long ago clinched the division —
one moment, I'm getting a note from our producers —
What? You've got to be kidding. They lost three of four to the Pirates...
Step in Right Direction: Fifth Straight Loss Has Pluses
It was another opportunity for the Dodgers to take the NL West crown that was rebuffed. Randy Wolf struggled with his control in LA’s 4-3 loss to Colorado. With the magic number almost frozen at one, the Boys in Blue have had five chances to clinch the division, and all five have ended in disappointing [...]

Golden Sombero
Manny Ramirez went 0 for 4 with four strikeouts as he continues to hit poorly in September. His last was probably the worst, as the Rockies took a 4-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh, and the Dodgers were rallying. Los Angeles brought two men in and had men on 1st and [...]
Will Manny Ramirez step up for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the playoffs?
Manny Ramirez has not looked like the same player after he returned from his drug suspension earlier this season. He has played in 103 games for the Dodgers this year and he is 101 for 348 (.290 avg, .953 OPS) with 62 runs scored, 19 homers and 62 RBIs. But Ramirez almost always [...]

Dodgers: Highs and lows on the way to a division title
Manny Ramirez's 50-game suspension showed the Dodgers they could win without him and even gave the L.A. a grand slam to remember.

The Dodgers are feeling a bit tight around the collar
If the Dodgers do win again, the champagne is going to flow, erasing everything that is no good, including Manny Ramirez's remarkable ability not to touch the ball in his last nine at-bats.

Notes from the Under/Over
When I bought a slew of tickets last month using my mysterious vouchers, I thought that last night's game had an outside chance of being interesting. And thanks to the Dodgers taking the week off, it was. While enjoying a relaxing drink in the Loge Terrace, I pondered much: would the game have the drama of getting to Shea in the 7th inning, befriending a homeless woman (who...
This Is Getting Riderpulous
heart: We just lost four in a row!
brain: Which matches the Dodgers' longest losing streak of the year.
heart: We just got swept by the Padres!
brain: It was only a two-game series, and it was the first time the Dodgers have been swept all season.
heart: We're going to become the NL wild card team!

Dodger blues deepen
LOS ANGELES — There were times Friday night when the Dodgers looked confused, as when Manny Ramirez adjusted his elbow protector a few steps outside of the batter's box, evidently unaware that he had struck out.
