Two Arizona State football players were involved in recent, unrelated police incidents, leading to one of the player's dismissal from the program. Walk-on defensive back Andres Rafael Garcia was arrested over the weekend in connection to a sexual assault in Tempe and was subsequently dismissed. Garcia joined the team last season as a non-scholarship walk-on and saw action on special teams in eight games. According to Tempe Police, Garcia, 22, was arrested late Sunday on two counts of sexual assault and one count of assaultdomestic violence related to an incident that occurred early Friday morning. According to the report, Garcia apparently got into a verbal argument with a 21-year-old woman and ended up shoving the woman backwards into a wall, briefly knocking her unconscious. When the woman regained consciousness, Garcia and others took her to her home, where Garcia and another friend carried her to her bedroom. Garcia asked to speak to her privately, at which time police say he allegedly sexually assaulted her while she was unable to give consent. In an unrelated incident, senior defensive lineman Junior Onyeali was investigated by Tempe Police for a situation that occurred last month. He has not been arrested. ASU made the following statement Tuesday about Onyeali's incident: "We are aware of the situation and have engaged campus resources to review." According to the Arizona Republic, which quoted a Tempe PD spokesman, Onyeali threw a 2-by-4 and broke the windshield of a womans car following an argument in May. It said Onyeali has paid for the damages, an the case has been submitted to the citys prosecutors office. Onyeali, who was suspended at the end of the 2011 season by former head coach Dennis Erickson, started fives games last season after getting back in coach Todd Graham's good graces. He was credited with 17 tackles and six sacks. He was the Pac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2010.
