Brett McMurphy of ESPN.com is reporting that Boise State will remain in the Mountain West Conference. The Broncos were set to join the Big East in football only in 2013. Louisville was scheduled to travel to Boise State next season to face the Broncos. I’m assuming the Big East will now be forced to add a future member one year early. Although Boise State never spent a day in the Big East, the Broncos still must pay a $10 million exit fee to the Big East. ESPN says the Mountain West agreed to pay half of that fee in order to keep Boise in the league. If it wasn’t already, the Big East now is officially dead.
