It looks like the Celtics are looking to really rebuild. First it was Doc Rivers leaving to coach the Los Angeles Clippers. Next it was Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce going to play for the Brooklyn Nets. Now according to FoxSportsSouthwest.com it looks like the Celtics are talking with the Dallas Mavericks to trade Rajon Rondo. With talks of Dwight Howard possible playing in Dallas and adding Rondo could move the Mavericks to be one of the top teams in the Western Conference. The Mavs do have enough cap space to make signing the two All-Stars work. Celtics fans before you into complete shock Boston general manager Danny Ainge has said he doesn’t want to lose Rondo. Yet Ainge did say that, “If Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are tradeable, then I guess everybody’s tradeable.” It is not clear since these are just rumors, but there have been various news sources saying that the face of the Mavs franchise, Dirk Nowitzki could be part of the deal.  Ainge has been talking with Mavs General Manager Donnie Nelson about possible deals. Rondo was believed to be the center of the Celtics rebuilding mode, but that could change. Rondo had averaged 11.1 points and 8.3 assists per game the past few seasons. He has led the league in assists the past two years. One thing that goes against Rondo is that he at times can be a hard teammate hard to play with or be coached. Rondo is still up there on their list, but the main focus for the Mavericks is signing Dwight Howard. A source close to the situation told FoxSportsSouthwest.com that, “Dallas, for all the right reasons, has 100 scenarios up on their board. But scenario No. 1 is Dwight Howard.”
