Los Angeles pitcher Zack Greinke drew a walk in the 10th inning against the Arizona Diamondbacks after the Dodgers ran low on position players.
The Dodgers were already down a player with second baseman Skip Schumaker serving the first game of a two-game suspension and had one position player left after rallying to tie the game at 5-all in the ninth inning Wednesday night.
Instead of using backup catcher Tim Federowicz to hit in the pitcher's spot in the 10th, Dodgers manager Don Mattingly sent out Greinke, who started the series opener on Monday.
A .370 hitter this season, Greinke fouled off a couple of pitches before drawing a walk against Josh Collmenter. He was stranded at second after Collmenter got the final two outs.

With the MLB All-Star Game Final Vote campaign currently clogging your Twitter feeds today, one theme has been popping up surrounding the National League voting this week: is ESPN pushing Yasiel Puig a little too hard to win the vote?
If you simply looked at ESPN's Twitter, you wouldn't get that impression. One tweet about Puig has come out since the Final Vote began...
The Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers don’t like each other. Most of the ill-will stems from the Ian Kennedy-Zack Greinke Beanfest back in June.
Now, the D’backs are starting to turn their attention to the mercurial Yasiel Puig. Diamondback Catcher Miguel Montero had some choice words for the reckless Puig. From MLB.com:
“If he’s my teammate, I probably try to...
The fans have spoken.
Freddie Freeman of the Braves and Steve Delebar of the Blue Jays were the winners of the All Star Game final vote.
Freeman vs Puigmania was an epic battle to the end, with the Freeman devotees coming out the victors. Puig being a possible player in this year’s All Star games captured the criticism of many in the baseball world.
With just a month under his...
Yasiel Puig has captivated baseball since making his major league debut on June 3. He went 2-for-4 in his debut and threw out a runner to end the game, clubbed two home runs the next game, and had four home runs and 10 RBIs in his first five games with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Though [...]
On Wednesday night, the three amigos joined together on #theUCshow to discuss the latest and greatest that’s happening (and not happening) in the sports world. One point in particular riled up our own Justin Tinsley, as MLB has decided to suspend many of their players for a multitude of games for violating their performance enhancing [...]The post While You All Try To Vilify Yasiel...
It took 14 innings to get a conclusion to Wednesday night’s game for the Los Angeles Dodgers but Hanley Ramirez and A.J. Ellis would make sure it would go no further. The two would hit a pair of solo home runs in the top of the 14th to give the Dodgers a 7-5 victory and the sweep over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Finishing out the road trip in style with a great team win and a 7-2...
PHOENIX (AP) -- Hanley Ramirez and A.J. Ellis hit consecutive homers in the 14th inning off Josh Collmenter, helping the Dodgers beat the Diamondbacks 7-5 on Wednesday night to complete a three-game sweep.
Ellis tied the game with a two-out, run-scoring single in the ninth inning off Heath Bell, and Ramirez hit the first pitch of the 14th off Collmenter (4-2) just over the wall...
If you think Yasiel Puig is arrogant now, just wait until he signs with Jay-Z.
The LA Dodgers phenom, who in little more than a month has become the biggest thing in baseball, spent Monday and Tuesday catching the ire of several Arizona Diamondbacks, who ripped him to the media . But by the time he took the field Wednesday, a Yahoo Sports report surfaced claiming that Jay-Z'...
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Chris Capuano pitched shutout ball for 6 13 innings, Mark Ellis drove in four runs, and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies 6-1 on Thursday night for their fifth win in a row.

Your browser does not support iframes. Yasiel Puig made a rookie mistake on Tuesday, and Miguel Montero taught the youngster a lesson. Despite my initial support for Yasiel Puig, Iâve
come to believe that him not making the All-Star team is a good
Well, you can say this about the Heath Bell Experience. At least there’s never a dull moment when he’s on the mound. Staked with a one-run lead in the ninth, Bell found a new way to blow a save.
I don’t often write these sort of unfocused think-pieces. (Well, I happen to think that I don’t, but many of my commenters undoubtedly disagree.) Anyway, I’m thinking about Yasiel Puig today. After an impressive, intensely hyped first month, the Dodger wunderkind lost to Freddie Freeman in the fans’ vote for the All-Star Game. (Of course, with injury replacements and so on...
