The Los Angeles Dodgers took another blow last night, not only losing a game to the Los Angeles Angels but also losing outfielder Matt Kemp to a hamstring injury. Kemp exited the contest in the seventh inning due to the ailment, and the Dodgers are considering him day-to-day, according to Austin Laymance of MLB.com. Kemp is slated to undergo an MRI today to determine the extent of the damage. After the game, he told reporters that he suffered the injury while pursuing a double hit by Angels outfielder Mike Trout. Following the play, Kemp signaled to the Dodgers’ training staff and was shortly thereafter removed from the contest. For what it’s worth, Kemp doesn’t believe the injury he sustained last night is as severe as the one that caused him to miss more than two months last season. "It's not as bad as last year," said Kemp, who was 0-for-3 with two strikeouts before the injury. "But when you feel it grab and it feels like that, you've got to take it easy and make sure you're careful with it because it can get worse." Kemp went on to say that he’d rather sit a few games to allow the hamstring to fully heal rather than miss months at a time like he did last year. At this point, manager Don Mattingly said he didn’t have a timeframe for Kemp’s return. Veteran Skip Schumaker replaced Kemp in center last night, but he’s only expected to be the short-term option. If Kemp misses a more significant stretch the team will make a move to bring up someone with more experience at the position. It’s been a rough start to the season for the two-time All-Star and former MVP candidate. Over 207 plate appearances, Kemp has only hit .255/.309/.340 with two home runs.
