Found February 05, 2013 on Running With The Devils:
New York Rangers (4-4-) @ New Jersey Devils (4-1-3) The Rangers return to the Prudential Center for the first time since the words “THEY SCORE!!!...Henrique…IT’S OVER!!!!” was so gloriously shouted by Mike “Doc” Emrick. The Devils Last Game – Give them credit for what they did on Sunday afternoon in Long Island. Coming off a game against the Islanders that was very back and forth, followed up by a shellacking by the Penguins, I wasn’t sure where this team stood. Shortened season = compressed schedule = no time to practice and fix things had me worried about Sunday. They did an excellent fighting through a scoreless 55+ minutes. The Last Rangers Game – There were a lot of questions going into their matchup with the Lightning but I thought the Rangers did a great job against a fast and high powered team like the Lightning. The Last Rangers/Devils Game – This is all you need to know and I’ll take ANY excuse to post it again. Tonight’s Game – No matter where

Pyatt another savy addition by Sather

Pyatt has proven to be a nice addition so far by Glen Sather Strike up another successful acquisition by Glen Sather. Taylor Pyatt –all 6’4 and 230 lbs of him– has proven to be a solid add to the Rangers, even though we’re still too early in the year to make significant conclusions. While Sather goes about adding integral pieces to roster like Rick Nash and Brad Richards...

ATF: WHL prospects continue scoring ways

While most of the focus in the WHL is on Michael St. Croix, Shane McColgan is also scoring at a point per game pace, and doing so on a Saskatoon team that is nowhere near as loaded as St. Croix’s Edmonton squad. Last night was no different, as McColgan added an assist in Saskatoon’s 5-4 win. As for St. Croix, he added a goal in Edmonton’s 4-3 overtime win. Both players are...

I Guess Kreider's Ankle is Ok

One of the few bright spots last night was Chris Kreider's absolute snipe in the third period... ...i guess the ankle is ok. You can see him entering the zone with a head of steam and Richards lead him perfectly down the wing. And then obviously he unleashes just a nasty shot. After seeing a play like that it seems unfathomable that he only had five goals in 33 games...

No Update on Girardi; Callahan Cleared for Contact

Blueshirts United reports that after not playing Wednesday night, Dan Girardi did not participate in today's optional practice. John Tortorella would only say that he's "not sure" of Girardi's status for tomorrow night's game against the Islanders. ...Girardi had only missed two games the last five seasons before last night, so it really must be...

Rangers trade Rupp to Minnesota

The Minnesota Wild and New York Rangers are trying to shake things up after getting off to slow starts by engaging in a trade. The Wild sent forward Darroll Powe and minor-league forward Nick Palmieri to the Rangers in exchange for forward Michael Rupp. The Wild also also recalled top prospect Charlie Coyle, who was expected to make his NHL debut on Monday against Phoenix. ...

Rangers Trade Mike Rupp To Minnesota For Darroll Powe

The New York Rangers have traded forward Mike Rupp to the Minnesota Wild for forwards Darroll Powe and Nick Palmieri. More on this trade later. … shocked the Rangers were able to trade Rupp and get two forwards back in the deal. At the current moment I do not know what to make of it [...]

What Is This Team's Identity?

Larry Brooks at the New York Post feels that the Rangers are having an identity crisis right now... "Everyone understood this team would be more top-heavy following an offseason in which Rick Nash came but Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov, Ruslan Fedotenko and Brandon Prust departed. Everyone could see the added skill level. But the Rangers, a guts-’n-glory team if there...

3-for-35?!?!?!?!?!

Yes Rangers fans, after last night's 0-for-5 on the power play, the Blueshirts are 3-for-35 with the extra man on the season!!!!! That's a success rate of 8.6%, good for last place in the NHL. Of those three goals, Ryan Callahan has two of them and Taylor Pyatt has one. That's right, Brad Richards, Rick Nash and Marian Gaborik have combined for ZERO power play...

Rangers Trying To Find Their Identity

from Larry Brooks of the NY Post, Everyone understood this team would be more top-heavy following an offseason in which Rick Nash came but Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov, Ruslan Fedotenko and Brandon Prust departed. Everyone could see the added skill level. But the Rangers, a guts-’n-glory team if there ever were one, seem to be grappling for an identity in this new season...

Clarkson, Brodeur Beat Blueshirts 3-1

For the New York Rangers, tonight must have seemed familiar as the team was beaten by the strong performances of New Jersey Devils' forward David Clarkson and netminder Martin Brodeur in a 3-1 loss. Clarkson continues to show that last year was not a fluke as he picked up his sixth and seventh goal of the year by doing something the Rangers have not done often enough this season...

Move to Wing Made Boyle More Aggressive

Pat Leonard at the Daily News reports on how John Tortorella's decision to move Brian Boyle to the wing against Tampa on Saturday night benefited him and the team. Here's Boyle on the move...  "It's just a little bit more concentrated on one spot," Boyle said of the wing, where he's played "certain shifts here and there, maybe a game or two...

Albany Devils 4, Connecticut Whale 3 (SO)

By Wil Goldsholl Hartford, CT, February 5, 2013 - On a night where Connecticut and the parent-team New York Rangers made some personnel swaps, the Devils bested both clubs Tuesday; the Whale suffered a loss at the hands of Albany, 4-3 in a shootout, while the Rangers fell to New Jersey, 3-1.
