Tim-lincecum-seen-prior
Giants general manager Brian Sabean indicated that Tim Lincecum will stay put for the rest of the season. And the right-hander couldn't be happier. "I've always had a great time here and I hope to see it go further," Lincecum said Thursday after the Giants held a light workout at AT&T Park. Trade speculation has hovered around Lincecum, who's eligible for free agency after this season. But Sabean quashed such whispering on his weekly radio show on KNBR-AM, the Giants' flagship station. "I expect Timmy to be in a Giant uniform," Sabean said. "I find it hard to believe that he'd pitch elsewhere this year." Thursday would have been Lincecum's turn to pitch if it weren't for the All-Star break. The right-hander insisted that he felt good enough to start, even after his 148-pitch effort in last Saturday's no-hitter at San Diego. "If today would have been that day, I'd be fine," Lincecum said. "I...

SF Giants Rumors: Tim Lincecum Rumors

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum has a limited no-trade list. Two teams not on that list are the Tigers and Red Sox. It’s also not clear which teams are actually on that list.   John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle says GM Brian Sabean addressed the Lincecum trade speculation on his show on KNBR yesterday.   “I expect Timmy...

San Francisco Giants: What to expect in the second half

The San Francisco Giants have won two World Series titles in the last three years. It’s safe to say that Giants fans have been spoiled these last few seasons with how well the Giants have played. Giants' Angel Pagan could return this season

Despite spending the majority of the season on the disabled list, the San Francisco Giants are hopeful that Angel Pagan could return this season.  Pagan suffered a strained hamstring earlier in the season.  He tried to play through it, then he tried taking sporadic days off.  Then finally, the Giants had to place him on the DL.  By that time, it was too late.  Pagan had to...

Sea gull problem stumps Giants

Even the sea gulls are throwing the struggling San Francisco Giants for a loss this year. Giants officials trying to find humane solution to the worsening onslaught of the birds at home games are stumped, the San Jose Mercury News reported Saturday. The gulls have routinely showed up at the end of night games since AT&T Park along San Francisco Bay opened in 2000. But it appears...

'Bubbleboat' visits McCovey Cove during SF Giants game (Video)

Your browser does not support iframes. The "Bubbleboat", the watercraft designed by artist Eric Staller that resembles a floating UFO, returned to McCovey Cove during Friday night's San Francisco Giants game. The Bubbleboat, decorated with 594 colorful lights and featuring a bubble cockpit for the pilot, has stopped by a few Giants games this year and is certainly...

SF Giants Rumors: Trade Deadline Edition

Mark Bowman of MLB.com says the Braves are looking for a left-handed reliever. I’m sure you’re wondering why I’m talking about the Braves wish list? If the San Francisco Giants are sellers at the trade deadline then this means they could be shopping around Javier Lopez or possibly Jeremy Affeldt. Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports (via Sulia) that he talked...

D-backs visit Giants looking to start second half strong

The Diamondbacks and Giants do not often meet in such position, with the D-backs atop the NL West and the defending World Series champions near the bottom. As the second half begins, the D-backs will be looking to build on a 2 12-game lead in the NL West while the Giants will be trying to find a way out of a 6 12-game hole dug by a 10-22 record since the last time the two teams...

D-backs return from break with shutout loss to Giants

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Chad Gaudin struck out eight in seven scoreless innings to build on his impressive monthlong stretch, All-Star Buster Posey hit an RBI double and the Giants beat the first-place Diamondbacks 2-0 on Friday night. Hunter Pence added a run-scoring single as defending World Series champion San Francisco started a key series to open the second half by pulling within...

Trade Values: Hunter Pence

Earlier today we heard a sort of non-rumor about Hunter Pence. Jon Heyman reported the Pirates are interested in Pence, but that the Giants aren’t looking to trade him at the moment. The Giants still see themselves in contention, since they’re 5.5 games back, despite being fourth in their division and having a losing record. They also would need to be overwhelmed to deal Pence...

Giants 2, Diamondbacks 0

Tigers not on Lincecum no-trade list but trade/pen plan "farfetched"

Giants no-hit pitcher Tim Lincecum has a limited no-trade list that does not include the Tigers or Red Sox, two teams expected to seek closers before the trade deadline this month. But several baseball executives still see a trade of Lincecum and simultaneous switch of jobs from starter to reliever as unlikely. "Farfetched,'' one National League executive called the...

Gaudin helps Giants blank Diamondbacks 2-0

It might have gone unsaid in the Giants' clubhouse. In fact, manager Bruce Bochy demands that. Deep down, though, everybody inside understands that a mere series victory against the first-place Diamondbacks will be nothing but a glancing blow. To land a real punch, the Giants need a sweep, a possibility that remains after they rode seven shutout innings from Chad Gaudin to a...

Lincecum to Tigers for bullpen help?

Three intriguing questions and story lines connected to the Detroit Tigers as they resume play after the All-Star break: What needs to be done with the bullpen? If your answer has something to do with dynamite, you're only partially correct. Joaquin Benoit and Drew Smyly provide consistent late-inning prowess, and Luke Putkonen is looking reliable in early relief. But questions...
