The deal is worth $7.5 million for the 7-foot Smith, who averaged 4.3 points and 3.1 rebounds for New Orleans last season. A first-round pick of the Miami Heat in 2007, Smith has career averages of 4.1 points and 2.9 rebounds in three seasons.
