Just what if David Wright and Jason Bay rebound in 2012?

With alterations already under way to reconfigure the fences at Citi Field, the Mets are undergoing a facelift with the hopes that it could jump-start a flailing offense. At the crux of the fence alterations is what it could mean to both David Wright and Jason Bay. Wright and Bay have seen their home run production arguably corrupted by the intimidating confines of Citi Field....

The only choice at 2B for Mets is Daniel Murphy

Recently, the Mets let it be known that if they re-sign Jose Reyes, that Ruben Tejada will be the team’s starting second baseman in 2012. And if Reyes bolts, they’ll move Tejada to shortstop and have Daniel Murphy starting at second base. Many fans seem surprised by this news, figuring that Murphy’s career in the middle of the infield was over. In 2011, Murphy posted a...

Mets Top Position Player Prospects Were Disappointing in 2011

I came into this season with high hopes for guys such as Cory Vaughn, Cesar Puello, Wilmer Flores and Aderlin Rodriguez.  However, not a single one of the players I just listed came close to their 2011 expectations, especially for where they were ranked in the system.  I understand that they are young, and still have time to develop, but was it to much to ask for one of them to perform at...

Mets360: Daniel Murphy should be the first choice at 2B

In a post to Mets 360, Brian Joura believes Daniel Murphy should be the primary choice at second base, regardless of whether or not the Mets retain Jose Reyes this winter, saying “The surprise shouldn’t be that the Mets want to play Murphy at second base if Reyes leaves – the surprise should be that he’s not the first option regardless of who plays shortstop.” I don...

This Glass Is 95% Full

OK, let’s get the whining out of the way first: I want to unreservedly love the new pinstripes, but they annoy me a little. The Mets were born in the Jet Age. Fatherly Eisenhower had given way to hip, stylish JFK, soon to announce we were going to the Moon. The Mets set up shop in the Polo Grounds, squashed into a grid of urban streets and thick with the ghosts of Giants past,...

Mets have seven investors for minority shares

In a report for ESPN New York, Adam Rubin says the Wilpons are progressing in selling stakes of the team, as they currently have seven investors in position to buy shares at $20 million a piece. Rubin says the Wilpons are content with the seven investors, although it is still possible they could look to engage additional investors for more stakes in the franchise. More to come…

What is this, MarlinsBlog?

Friend of MetsBlog, @ChrisDAPS on Twitter, created this: Matthew Cerrone: Obviously that’s an exaggeration, but it’s a point well taken… it has felt like this of late, considering every third post here over the last week or so has mentioned the Marlins. It’s frustrating to spend this much time mulling over the seemingly progressive moves of a division rival, especially...
