Story reported by David Harns: Wounded members of the US Army sitting front row at the MSU vs. UCONN game at Ramstein Air Base.                     Michigan State and Connecticut might be here to play a basketball game, but this is about so much more than a game. It’s about the three members of the US Army who are sitting behind the MSU bench, in the front row. A row reserved for Wounded Warriors. (From left to right) Spc. Joshua Wirth did reconnaissance work, and was a gunner in the top of the vehicle in which he was wounded in. During duty, Wirth was blown up by pressure plate IED in Logar, Afgahanistan. The force of the explosion knocked him unconscious and caused him to lose eye sight in right eye. Also, he suffered a tramatic brain injury. This is his first time out of hospital in 3 weeks. Spc. Dustin Chesser, 21, was injured in Ethiopia. He suffered vision and heart problems. Spc. Cory Gizzi, 21, of New York, tore his ACL and miniscus in Afghanistan. He is looking at a 4 weeks to 11-month recovery. Gizzi said that it’s a  “big morale booster” to see the Spartans, a team that he loves. Michigan State and Connecticut are doing this for much more than their basketball programs. They’re doing it for those that go through real hardships and real battle, voluntarily.
