Daytona Beach, Fl- One driver who’s getting hot at the right time is Earnhardt/Ganassi Racing’s Jamie McMurray. He’s moving up the standings rapidly as he now sits 17th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup points leaving Saturday night’s Coke Zero 400 at the Daytona International Speedway. McMurray is only 24 points out of 10th and  a few more top fives and 10′s could make him a big player in the race to the Chase, even if he doesn’t reach victory lane. The 2010 Daytona 500 champion finished second last weekend in Kentucky and backed that up with a seventh place finish at Daytona Saturday night. McMurray led 10 laps at DIS and was among the strongest cars all night as he definitely had a shot at winning. What’s nice for McMurray and EGR is the No. 1 Chevy has consistently been near the top of the leaderboard the last two weeks and is peaking with only eight races to go before the start of the Chase. The series heads to three very good tracks for McMurray in the next four races. McMurray won the 2010 Brickyard 400 and has been a threat at Indy every year since. Indy is up after New Hampshire. After Indy the series heads back to Pocono which is very similar to Indy and then Watkins Glen. McMurray is a very good road racer as well and could easily have three shots at earning his first victory of the season and could put together a string of three more solid finishes to get him closer or into the top 10 in the standings.
