Few teams around baseball are happier the All-Star break has arrived than the Los Angeles Dodgers. Talk about stumbling in. The Dodgers were the best team in baseball through April and May, and making plenty of money for their friends backing them against the MLB odds. Now, after a couple of key injuries, the Blue Crew is experiencing some turbulence, and its backers have been rattled.

Back on May 31 Los Angeles owned the best record in baseball at 32-19. That day, LA put OF Matt Kemp, who darn near won a Triple Crown last year, on the disabled list for the second time that month.

Since then the Dodgers have lost 21 of 36 games, blown an eight-game divisional lead and made a minor mockery of the idea of scoring runs. In dropping three of four games to the D-Backs in Arizona over the weekend Los Angeles scored a total of 11 runs. The sad thing is that was an improvement over what the Dodgers had been doing offensively recently.

By the grace of Walter Alston LA goes into the break at 47-40 and with a half-game lead over second-place San Francisco in the NL West. Ominously, defending division champion Arizona now lurks just four games back.

The big news for the Dodgers coming out of the break will be the return of Kemp and Andre Ethier, who's also on the DL. Los Angeles hopes both are in the lineup when it hosts the Padres for the opener of a three-game series Friday night at Chavez Ravine.

With the Dodgers' Jekyll-and-Hyde start online baseball betting shops have had to play with LA's MLB futures odds all season long. As of Monday morning Bookmaker.eu is listing the Blue Crew with a revised regular-season wins 'over/under' of 86.5. So LA would have to win at least 40 of its last 75 games to go 'over' its new wins total.

Over at Bovada the Dodgers are now getting +160 to win the NL West, 7/1 to win the NL pennant and 16/1 to win the World Series.
