Jonathan Papelbon made headlines last week when he was asked whether Dodgers rookie outfielder Yasiel Puig should make the All-Star team, despite only having just over a month on the major league roster. Papelbon made no bones about it: he did not consider Puig an All-Star. And he said it...
BEST OF MAXIM
SportsCenter’s Twitter account just tweeted out this graphic depicting the sweet spot of Dodgers phenom Yasiel Puig and, well, you probably shouldn’t throw him strikes. The 22-year old outfielder is hitting .493 on pitches in the strike zone this season. That’s quite the sweet spot, no?

Yasiel Puig’s hustle plays keep paying off, even though he may not be the best defensive player in the MLB (by a long shot). Check out the great catch Puig made off of a Nolan Arenado line drive which caused Puig to slam directly into the outfield wall, somehow holding on to the ball. Slow down big fella.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia is the latest to say that Dodgers phenom Yasiel Puig is not yet deserving of an All-Star selection.
While acknowledging the talent of the 22-year-old the former big league cat catcher stated that he believed Puig’s stint in the majors was not long enough to deserve selection to the mid-summer classic.
Remember when the Dodgers acquired Manny Ramirez in 2008?
The man who’s considered by some to be the best right-handed hitter to ever play the game, who propelled the Dodgers to the 2008 NL West Championship and helped take the team to back-to-back NLCSes in 2008 and 2009, the man who found himself caught up in steroid and performance enhancing drug controversies throughout his...
Mike Trout is in.
Is Yasiel Puig next?
Trout, the Angels reigning rookie of the year, was voted to start in the American League outfield for the July 16 All-Star Game at Citi Field in New York, but he was the only member of the Angels or Dodgers to earn a starting spot.
Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw was named to the National League pitching staff for a third consecutive...
I’m trying to find a link or a transcript or some sort of record that Vin Scully said on air the other day that having the All-Star Game determine homefield advantage for the World Series is a really dumb thing to do but I’m finding vapor. Oh, well. It’s a dumb thing to do and Vin Scully should out-rank the commissioner anyway. But it’s still the rule of the land so, once...
Old school baseball is a joke.
When Phillies closer Jonathan Paplebon came out to say that Yasiel Puig being voted into the All Star game would be a joke, one was just waiting for the slew of other Puig ‘naysayers’ to come out the woodwork to throw shade his way.
No surprise that today it came from the ‘other’ LA team, from Mike Scioscia manager of the struggling Anaheim...
Last week, Bruce Bochy was quoting in saying that he didn't believe emerging Los Angeles Dodgers rookie superstar Yasiel Puig deserved a place on the National League All-Star team. This was potentially detrimental to Puig's All-Star hopes considering the fact that Bochy will manage the National League squad later this month in the All-Star Game."Generally, guys that...
Lost in all the commotion about Yasiel Puig are the trickiest predicaments when it comes to the All-Star game.
Look at that logjam at third base in the American League!
The National League is overloaded with pitchers.
And who in the name of old Jack Murphy Stadium is going to represent the San Diego Padres?
So while the polarizing debate over whether Puig should be selected Saturday...
Starting pitcher, Madison Bumgarner (9-5, 3.05 ERA) has proven to be the best and most consistent pitcher so far this season for the San Francisco Giants (40-46). Today’s game against division rival, the Los Angeles Dodgers (41-44), proved it once again, even with a few hiccups along the way.
A new system for the Giants’ reeked havoc on the first inning of the game as all the...
He hasn’t been in the league long, but Los Angeles Dodgers phenom Yasiel Puig could still make it on to the National League roster for the All-Star Game on July 16. When the rosters were announced, Puig’s name was not included among the starters or reserves meaning that the fans,
Now that I’ve returned from out west and Las Vegas; it’s a new obsession I’m drawn to. My next trip out west is going to be to Los Angeles and Dodger Stadium, so I can cross the number one item off my bucket list. I want to see where this went down.
When I get out there – and it will most likely be next summer – I want to go to two Dodgers games. I want to rent a car and...
One of my favorite holidays is the 4th of July. Coming from a family of Marines, I have always been patriotic, and no single day makes you feel more proud to be American, than the 4th. For most it means a day off of work, going to the pool, cooking out, watching or setting off fireworks, and drinking some beers. This 4th of July will be pretty unique for me as I will be in San...
