PLAYERS: John Danks
TEAMS: Chicago White Sox
Although he's made progress from offseason shoulder surgery, Chicago White Sox starter John Danks may end up on the disabled list to start the season.  He struggled yesterday which led to concerns about his readiness to take the ball every fifth day once the reason starts. Bruce Levine of ESPN Chicago says Danks may start the season on the disabled list depending on what the White Sox see out of him going forward.  Manager Robin Ventura is in wait and see mode right now. "We will see how he is tomorrow," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. "For me that is the biggest thing -- to see how he is doing. Then you make a decision. You don't really want to make a decision right now. The window is closing and it is getting pretty tight." Danks may be physically healthy enough to pitch once the season starts, but he has not gotten the proper conditioning in.  He will need more spring starts to be ready, but if the club thinks his shoulder is bothering him, they would not hesitate to shut him down. The White Sox don't really have options for a fifth starter beyond Danks, but they may have to figure that out.  Danks has been a fixture in Chicago's rotation for six seasons now, so he will be difficult to replace.  He is 57-60 with a 4.12 ERA in his career.
