Sydney Cricket GroundMajor League Baseball will open the 2014 regular season with two games between the Dodgers and Diamondbacks in Sydney, Australia. The games will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground next March 22nd and 23rd. Ironically, the two teams that will play in the historic match-up engaged in one of the biggest brawls in recent memory last night in LA. Things got out of hand when Arizona pitcher Ian Kennedy plunked his counterpart Zack Greinke with a fastball near the head. Put some rancid shrimp on the barbie, why don't ya?

Major League Baseball handed down suspensions as a result of the Dodgers-Diamondbacks brawl on Tuesday night, and Ian Kennedy got the headline penalty, as he’ll be unable to pitch for 10 days after he decides to strategically drop his appeal. And, looking at the Diamondbacks schedule, that will almost certainly happen on Monday, and Kennedy will become the latest starting pitcher...
Tuesday's Diamondbacks-Dodgers brawl has resulted in eight player suspensions, with ten games for D-Backs starter Ian Kennedy being the most severe.
The Dodgers are still upset a day after their brawl with the Arizona Diamondbacks, with much of their ire directed toward pitcher Ian Kennedy.
Kennedy hit Los Angeles rookie Yasiel Puig and pitcher Zack Greinke with high pitches, and a day later the Dodgers were still taking exception to where they were thrown.
Los Angeles manager Don Mattingly says he doesn't think Kennedy...
Well, that escalated quickly.
It all started when Yasiel Puig got hit in the face by a 92 mph Ian Kennedy fastball.
Zack Greinke then followed that up the next inning by hitting Miguel Montero in the back.
Now, personally, if I was Zack Greinke, I wouldn’t have hit Miguel Montero. I don’t really believe Ian Kennedy hit Yasiel Puig intentionally, and I don’t really believe...
Last night Ian Kennedy of the Arizona Diamondbacks not only started a major brawl, but also needed 4 strikes to strikeout Los Angeles Dodgers phenom Yasiel Puig. Just another example of how there is zero credibility in the world of Major League Baseball umpiring.

Ian Kennedy, Zack Greinke, and the probabilistic approach to determining intention.
You want answers, I've got answers, courtesy of sources familiar with the suspensions that baseball issued Friday for the Dodgers-Diamondbacks brawl.
- Why only 10 games for Diamondbacks right-hander Ian Kennedy?
Kennedy threw at Zack Greinke's head after the umpires issued warnings to both clubs. It's certainly fair to ask why Kennedy's penalty likely will amount...
Tuesday night, we got another dose of stupid, dangerous behavior from grown men who should know better. In the top of the fifth inning, Zack Greinke hit Cody Ross, and things increasingly spun out of control from there. In the bottom of the sixth, recent call up and phenom Yasiel Puig was hit in the face by Ian Kennedy. I’m not sure if it was intentional, and since hitting someone...
Los Angeles Dodgers rookie Yasiel Puig has been hit by a pitch from Arizona's Ian Kennedy in the sixth inning.
Puig went down after the ball glanced off his left shoulder and struck him in the face. The 22-year-old Cuban defector eventually sat up and was examined by a team trainer after a Spanish translator was summoned.
Puig's nose was checked by the trainer and after...
Earlier Friday, Major League Baseball levied it’s punishments for those involved in the Diamondbacks-Dodgers brawl Tuesday night.
Arizona pitcher Ian Kennedy has been suspended for 10 games and Diamondbacks infielder Eric Hinske for five for their roles in a brawl this week, while managers Don Mattingly and Kirk Gibson have been given one-game bans.
In all, eight members of the Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers organizations were suspended Friday by Major League Baseball Senior Vice President Joe Garagiola...
After a day off to cool down from a heated series in L.A., the Diamondbacks arrive in San Diego for a weekend set with the Padres. But the D-backs have yet to feel the true effects of their brawl with the Dodgers on Tuesday.
The D-backs could be without scheduled Sunday starter Ian Kennedy, who is expected to face suspension for throwing at Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke's head...
The Dodgers and Diamondbacks had some very bad blood on Tuesday night, and the young phenom Yaisel Puig was at the center of it. Yasiel Puig was hit in face by a fastball early in the game, and when Greinke was also hit by Ian Kennedy during the seventh inning frustrations boiled over.

The Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers had a bench clearing brawl in the 7th inning
of Tuesday nights game at Dodger Stadium.
This had been brewing since the sixth inning when D-Backs pitcher Ian Kennedy beaned Dodger phenom Yasiel Puig with a 92 MPH fastball in the face.
In the top of the seventh Dodger pitcher Zach Greinke retaliated beaning Diamondback catcher...
One of my fellow writers on MMO sent me a video link to the Ian Kennedy plunked his L.A. counterpart, Zack Greinke, with a high-and-tight pitch. The Dodgers’ pitcher, who fractured his collarbone in a brawl with the Padres earlier this season, was the third player hit in the tense NL West tilt. That 92-mph fastball at Greinke’s head proved to be the final straw.”>D’Backs...
