During Louisville’s three game losing streak earlier in the season, the Cards lost a road game to the Villanova.  The Cards met the Wildcats in Madison Square Garden for the Quarterfinals of the Big East Tournament and made easy work of them this time.  Louisville’s physical style of play, played a vital in a “sparingly” officiated game.  When the final buzzer sounded, the Cards had 74 points on the board and the Cats’ had a mere 55. Russ Smith grew up dreaming of playing in the garden and he played like he was a regular there.  He even has a large photo of him plastered on the walls of the building.  Smith racked up 28 points in 29 minutes.  When Russ is going that good, the offense is basically, get out of the way and let him do his thing.  Smith was phenomenal and if he continues that play against Notre Dame I can’t imagine a scenario in which the Cards come away with a loss. Luke Hancock hasn’t missed a shot since January.  Okay thats a little bit of a stretch…but it seems like he hasn’t missed a shot in forever.  He has hit big shot after big shot for the Cards and has been getting more and more minutes.  Not only is he making more three point field goals but he is driving to the basket more efficiently also.  Many people are referring to Hancock as our secret weapon and if he is hitting like he is now…there is a real possibility that he could be a huge player in the coming weeks. After the big games that Peyton Siva and Gorgui Dieng had last Saturday against Notre Dame, they both took a bit of a back seat in this one.  Dieng had one of his worst statistic games in a long time but he also was in foul trouble for a portion of the game.  Dieng was on the court for a mere 25 minutes.  Siva reached double digits in scoring again as he had 10 points, with that he had 4 ast, 2 rbs, and 3 stls. Chane Behanan made the headlines last night and it wasn’t for his basketball performance.  Chane Behanan and former President Bill Clinton hit it off pretty well last night in the locker room after the game.  Chane Behanan had this to say about the former leader of the free world: “I mean, I think the president got swag, he got that swag to him, I don’t want to say what type of swag he got, but he got swag. I don’t know if it’s appropriate — I mean, it’s appropriate, but I don’t want to say. I don’t want to start nothing up.” Behanan also took many photos with former President Clinton…here is one just to give you a taste… The Big East tournament continues tonight on ESPN.  In the first game Georgetown takes on Syracuse and then following that game Louisville will once again play the Fighting Irish.  So all for all Louisville fans…today is just one more day where it is perfectly normal for you to stand at your TV and scream profanity at Digger Phelps for his biased reporting.
