Found January 09, 2013 on The B1g Time:
Tuesday night saw just one game involving Big Ten basketball teams and that was Ohio State vs. Purdue. Unlike the last few days this one came down to the wire and was a well played game on all fronts. So, let's get into the details!  Ohio State 72, Purdue 64 What We Learned: Um, I'm not sure we learned a lot that we didn't already know about the Buckeyes, other than Deshaun Thomas is really, and I mean REALLY freaking good. He had 22 points on 8 of 13 shooting from the field. Aaron Craft finally stepped up in a Big Ten game, scoring 15 points - toping his total for the 1st two games in this game alone and if it weren't for him you could well argue that they walk out of Mackey as losers. (hmmm.... who said that would be the case? Oh ya... This guy!!) Purdue on the other hand, they're going to be a really, really tough out for any team in the Big Ten at Mackey arena, but the lack of an outside shooting game and a lack of efficient scoring effort is what is holding this team back. Don't worry, they'll win their fair share of games and probably pull another upset or two at Mackey arena.  Star of the Game: Deshaun Thomas - 22 points, 8-13 FG, 4-7 3pt FG's, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block Thomas is going to have to put this team on his back all season long and it's not surprising he did it again in this one with a big time efficient performance shooting 61.5% from he field and 57% from deep as well. Hard to say he wasn't the star of this game, or the star of the Big Ten as he upped his league leading points per game average to 20.3. Stat of the Game: 4 - That's the number of FG's different between the winners and losers - and no, I'm not talking about the difference in points. It's not often you see the exact point difference come down to the exact number of field goals needed. OSU made 30 to Purdue's 26.  Tomorrow our coverage continues with a Top 25 matchup and No. 2 Michigan in action - it promises to be a good night in the nation's best conference.

Thomas lifts Ohio State past Purdue

Deshaun Thomas scored 22 points to lead No. 15 Ohio State to a 74-64 victory over Purdue on Tuesday night. The angry Buckeyes (12-3, 2-1) rebounded from their first Big Ten loss by shooting 56.4 percent from the field. They took a 10-point halftime lead despite losing point guard Aaron Craft for all but 4:19 of the first half because of early foul trouble, and Buckeyes coach Thad...

Let's All Point and Laugh at Aaron Craft's Regression

Judge Stone, I'd like to file a motion for teammates that don't blow clown dick. I never understood the brief troll-dom displayed by Drew and Dut at the expense of Seal a few weeks ago. If you recall, those two troglodytes took turns annoyingly LOLZing at our engaged friend over a few losses to start the season of his beloved Ashley Judds. I didn’t get it at all because...

Sam Thompson dunks on A.J. Hammons

When Ohio State's Sam Thompson goes from the corner to the rim in one dribble, you probably shouldn't get in his way. If you do, this happens.

0-3 vs. ranked teams, Ohio State seeking answers

Thad Matta is happy with his team. He is just not happy with how it is playing right now. The Buckeyes are 11-0 against unranked teams but now stand 0-3 against Associated Press Top 25 teams after sustaining a 74-55 beating at No. 12 Illinois on Saturday. The inability to beat elite teams has dropped the Buckeyes from No. 4 in the preseason to No. 15 in the latest media balloting...

Buckeyes still in the mix for Jackson

2014 five-star  prospect Justin Jackson of HCYA (Spring,Tx) recently cut his list to six.  The Buckeyes, Arizona, North Carolina, Texas A&M, Virginia & Washington are still in the mix for the small forward. the 6’6 175lb Jackson who speaks with Coach Matta & Coach Boals the most  had the following to say when asked why Ohio State made the cut over so many...

Urban Meyer Earns Bonus Despite Bowl Ban

Ohio State's bowl ban kept them from playing in the postseason, but it didn't prevent Urban Meyer's pockets from getting fatter. According to the Columbus Dispatch, Meyer will collect a $150,000 bonus for finishing in the top ten of the AP poll. The Buckeyes were ranked #3 in the poll's final release on Tuesday, trailing only Alabama and Oregon. Many Ohio State faithful...

OSU Bounces Back At Purdue

The No. 15 Ohio State basketball team found a harsh reality check when losing by 19 at Illinois on Saturday, the Buckeyes' worst loss in three years. Three days later, however, OSU bounced back by grabbing its first road win of the season at Purdue.

Shooting Issues Becoming A Trend For OSU

For most who follow the Ohio State basketball program, the Buckeyes’ 74-55 loss at Illinois on Saturday was the latest example of what could become the norm if the problems that have plagued the team all season against top foes become chronic. Thad Matta sees it differently, but that doesn't mean won't experiment with the lineup.

Cupcake football matchups about to end in Big Ten?

If you are Wisconsin, Iowa, Ohio State, and Michigan to name a few you're lucky because every week is a sell out in your stadium or as close as possible, but for some of the other programs inside the Big Ten that's not the case, and a major reason for that could be on it's way out. You know, the dreaded cupcake game - the one where your favorite team asks you to fork...

Big Weekend On Tap

With the current dead period ending this Friday, Ohio State will be hosting several prospects on official visits this weekend. Although most visits have been scheduled for a while, there will be one surprise visitor in Columbus this weekend.

Craft-tastic! Buckeye Point Guard Returns To Form In West Lafayette

November 28th, 2012. Eleven points on 3-of-15 shooting, four rebounds, one assist, three turnovers, five fouls. A 73-68 loss. That was Aaron Craft, probably at the lowest point of his OSU career. Since that evening when the Buckeyes faded in the second half at Cameron against the nation’s top team, Craft has been a 33% shooter, averaging just 5.7 points per game. The Ohio...
