Ryan Aplin threw for 198 yards and three touchdowns, and Arkansas State limited Alcorn State to 130 yards of offense in a 56-0 victory on Saturday night. Aplin completed 12 of 13 passes for the Red Wolves (2-2) and did not play in the second half. With 50 career TD passes, the senior moved into first on the school's all-time list. Alcorn State (1-1) had 13 possessions, with just three lasting more than five plays. Quarterback John Gibbs passes had 12 completions for only 39 yards and rushed for 47 yards on six carries. Rod Smith rushed for 104 yards and touchdown for Arkansas State, and nine different players caught a pass. Ronnell Wright returned a fumble 7 yards for a touchdown and David Oku rushed for two TDs in the first half as the Red Wolves led 42-0 at the break.

After a grueling road schedule against two Top 25 BCS opponents, Arkansas State returned home here Saturday night to take on FCS Alcorn State before hosting Western Kentucky in next week's Sun Belt Opener. As expected, ASU handled Alcorn State 56-0 in a game that saw a lot of offense a solid performance by the Red Wolves defensive unit.
