Florida coach Will Muschamp has chosen to start Jacoby Brissett at quarterback for the 17th-ranked Gators' game at No. 1 LSU on Saturday. The decision on Saturday marks the first time in Florida history that a true freshman has taken his first college snap as the starter. During the past week, Muschamp said freshman Jeff Driskel would be likely starter because he had the most game experience among active Florida quarterbacks after senior John Brantley had been ruled out because of a right leg injury against Alabama last week. However, Muschamp also spread practice snaps among Brissett and fellow freshman Tyler Murphy during the week while Driskel tried to overcome an ankle injury of his own.

Loss a learning experience for Gator QB

BATON ROUGE, La. Jacoby Brissett didnt get a win in his first career start, but he got a good story that he can tell for years to come. First Thoughts: LSU Tigers 41 - Florida Gators 11

Gators begin Auburn week with Jacoby Brissett as starting quarterback

With starting quarterback John Brantley out, it’s difficult to believe any news out of Florida about a replacement. Brissett, not Driskel, gets the start for UF vs. LSU

Apparently, the injury to Jeff Driskel was indeed a little more serious than anyone at Florida was willing to let on.  Either that, or the plan was to go in another direction all along at the quarterback position.  One of the two. Either way, it will be true freshman Jacoby Brissett, not Driskel, as the…
