This wasn't the offense a lot of people expected out of Ohio State.
Urban Meyer was supposed to usher in an era of throwing it around, backs used as receivers and receivers carrying the ball. Speed - in terms of personnel and even numbers of plays - would be the key.
Instead, Carlos Hyde has brought back a Buckeyes' attack from another time, back when it was routine to see 235-pound tailbacks muscling through the cracks created by a massive offensive line.
If Meyer has added a wrinkle to the Buckeyes' attack, it's to give free rein to quarterback Braxton Miller, who is capable of scrambling for 60 yards or throwing deep for similar yardage.
The seventh-ranked Buckeyes (7-0) are a blend of the old and new.
