Antonio Morrison’s offseason roller coaster took another turn Tuesday as the State Attorney’s Office announced that the misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest without violence and harassing a police dog were dismissed. The State Attorney’s Office released a statement on the decision to drop the charges. “The dismissal is based on the lack of evidence to warrant much less legally sustain those charges and the complete inappropriateness of pursuing court action against Morrison, or anyone else, under the circumstances involved.” Morrison was arrested early Sunday after walking up to a police vehicle and barking at a police dog. The resisting arrest charge was added when police handcuffed him. However, video of the arrest appears to show that police might have acted slightly out of line. You can be the judge. Following news of Morrison’s arrest, his second of the offseason, he was suspended for at least the first two games of the season by head coach Will Muschamp, meaning he would miss Florida’s season opener against Toledo and first road game at Miami. After the decision was made to have the charges dropped, Florida released a statement from Muschamp, in which the coach backed up his initial decision to suspend Morrison. “As of now nothing has changed with Antonio’s discipline status,” Muschamp said. So for now it would seem that Morrison remains in his head coach’s doghouse (pun intended).
