The Auburn Tigers are just two years removed from winning a BCS National Championship. But Cam Newton is gone. So is Nick Fairley, Michael Dyer and Lee Ziemba. Gus Malzahn is no longer running the offense, and the Tigers are off to an unimpressive 1-2 start in 2012.
That is a bad formula for current Auburn head coach Gene Chizik. But are the Tigers seriously considering firing Chizik...

Joe Bagwell, a student assistant on Auburn's football team, died unexpectedly before Saturday night's game against LSU.
Coach Gene Chizik opened his postgame news conference by announcing Bagwell died ''shortly before the game.''
Chizik said he had ''a very heavy heart for myself and a lot of our players.'' He said Bagwell's sudden death...

Accused tree poisoner Harvey Updyke can now add accused terrorizer to his rap sheet. Updyke was arrested on September 18th in Hammond, La on charges of terrorizing. And of course, Updyke caught the charge in a very Harvey Updyke manner.
According to police, Updyke attempted to return a lawnmower to a home improvement store, which is totally normal. But things turn not so normal...

The head linesman in Saturday night’s LSU vs. Auburn football game was injured and removed from the game after he fell on his head.
LSU's Charles Mitchell rolled toward the sideline after making a tackle in the second quarter. He slammed right into the ref and knocked the legs out from under him.
