We will be covering the Top 5 Heisman hopefuls every week for you, and you can expect the list to be changing right down to the wire. Some of the 2013 early season candidates are already in mid-season form and it will be fun to track them throughout the year. Without further ado, here are the top five Heisman Trophy candidates heading into Week 2… Teddy Bridgewater Teddy just tossed for a mere 355 yards and 5 touchdowns during Louisville’s opening day win, no big deal. Bridgewater has come out of the gate strong and placed himself atop the Heisman favorites thus far. He holds the keys to Louisville’s success this year, and if he can keep them winning he will be an easy top three candidate to take home the Heisman. Tajh Boyd Quarterback Tajh Boyd finished with five touchdowns (three passing) and led his Clemson Tigers to a very impressive 38-35 upset of Georgia. Couple the big offensive numbers with no turnovers and you have a near perfect game played by the man at the helm of Clemson’s offense. His performance was not flawless enough for his offensive coordinator, who specifically called out Boyd for too slow of a pace. If the young man needed any more of a fire in his belly, he got it. Braxton Miller Braxton only played for a limited time during Ohio State’s win over Buffalo, but he shined during the shortened time. Miller tossed two TD’s and also added 77 yards rushing on the ground. If Ohio State can keep up their winning ways, it will guarantee that Braxton will be in New York in just over 3 months time. Johnny Manziel Johnny Football put up pretty fantastic numbers for playing less than a half of football, and even led his team from a touchdown down to the victory. Tossing three TDs in that short of a time is nothing to sneeze at, but you can nitpick his character issues if you want. Manziel was benched towards the end of the game for taunting and there were two other instances where he showed less than perfect judgement. All in all, Johnny was great on the field, but probably needs to keep his mouth shut if he wants to win the Heisman. Jadeveon Clowney Jadeveon Clowney took the furthest tumble in our Heisman watch due to what appeared to be a lack of conditioning which he displayed in his first game. Coupled with a less than impressive stats during his first game you would think he may have fallen out of the top 5 but you need to remember that just his prescence alone caused North Carolina to switch up their entire offensive scheme. If you find a better defensive player in college football, let me know. Players to keep an eye on… Duke Johnson Jameis Winston Article found on: Next Impulse Sports
