College Football Updates

By SBRForum.com

How will the Penn State scandal and other top stories affect the college football picks for the up-coming season?

The NCAA had considered giving the Nittany Lions a four-year death penalty, but once the school found out they held emergency meetings with the committee to come to a different conclusion.

In the end, the punishments were still severe and they'll leave Penn State in a dark state for years to come.

Along with all of the fines and penalties, the Nittany Lions also face the possibility of losing some of their best players to transfers. That includes star running back Silas Redd, who is reportedly strong considering moving to USC to play instead of sticking around.

The Trojans would welcome that news considering they just lost big-time defensive end Devon Kennard for the year due to injury.

Penn State has already loss safety Tim Buckley, who decided to leave and join up with North Carolina State.

The NCAA was busy this past week handing out another ban, this time to the University of Central Florida.

After an investigation into major recruiting violations, the committee decided to give the both the football and basketball teams a one year postseason ban. That's hardly the way the school would like to go out before bolting Conference USA for the Big East.

The other big news to come out this week revolved around Ohio State running back Bri'onte Dunn.

He's been charged with marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession, however the school has yet to make a formal announcement about a possible punishment. Considering Urban Meyer hasn't been shy about doling out suspensions in his short time as head coach, the future isn't looking too good for Dunn.

Either way, this is another headache Meyer has to deal with as he already has running back Jordan Hall out at least through September due to injury.
