In May, it was revealed that Everett Golson was kicked out of school for cheating in the classroom. Everett Golson not too long ago admitted to cheating academically at Notre Dame. He sat down and did an interview with Sports Illustrated’s Andy Staples talking a little about what happened but ended the interview saying he wants to get back into school. According to Coach Brian Kelly, the star quarterback has reapplied for admission to the university. At his weekly press conference, Kelly revealed Golson applied for the spring semester and that his application was under review by the schools admissions office.  “My heart was set on going back to Notre Dame,” Golson told Sports Illustrated. “Not necessary to prove to anybody, just doing it for me. That’s something that I started and I didn’t want to run away from it.” If a decision comes down on Golson’s application by mid-December, he would be able to practice with the team for bowl practices. If allowed to return, Everett could be in class as soon as January. Golson has remained close to the program and has made it clear he wants to return to Notre Dame. His replacement Tommy Rees has serviceable but he’s not Everett by a long shot. If Everett returns, he will have two more years of eligibility in South Bend. Golson was one of college football’s most dynamic players when he was playing. His arm was not the best in the country but his ability to be a dual threat made opposing defenses have to respect his arm as well as his feet. His return will not be so easy. Notre Dame recruited 4-star quarterback DeShone Kizer and Malik Zaire, a player people around the country praise highly is coming off his redshirt next year. I also think the playbook is different from when Golson played. Tommy Rees isn’t nearly as athletic as Everett is so Brian Kelly has had to open up the playbook more and I don’t think he is going to close it for Golson again. It’s good to see Golson taking the proper steps to get back into school and I really hope he does not screw up again. I’m sure he knows this is his last chance. Even if he doesn’t start the microscope will be on him so he better be o his best behavior at all time, you never know who’s watching.   The post Everett Golson Reapplies For Notre Dame appeared first on UTSN.
