HOOVER, Ala. -- Steve Spurrier has a fan in Hugh Freeze.
The Ole Miss coach wears visors on the sideline, a look that South Carolina's Spurrier cultivated years ago, and Freeze admitted Tuesday at SEC Media Days that his own visor-wearing ways are an ode to the Head Ball Coach.
"When I was a high school coach, I wanted to be like Steve Spurrier," Freeze said.
The second-year Rebels coach said Spurrier learned of his homage and says "Steve and I have become really good friends. He calls me 'His visor guy.'"
Unfortunately, we won't Spurrier take on his visor protege this season since the Rebels didn't draw the Gamecocks out of the SEC West. But there is the West Division clash on Oct. 5 against Auburn and its visor-wearing coach Gus Malzahn, who himself wears visors because -- you guessed it -- Spurrier.
