Gary Pinkel, the head coach at Missouri, is launching his own website. This is largely a “keep up with the Joneses” move that mirrors other sites of high profile coaches, and an attempt to grow the brand of Missouri football. The current video on the site, however, is something to behold. Let’s start with the boilerplate. Via KansasCity.com, we get the standard announcement. According to a press release issued Monday, the primary intent of the website – which is appropriately named GaryPinkel.com – is “to show a different, behind-the-scenes side of the program, engage Missouri fans in a more personal way and celebrate the success of the players the program has sent to the National Football League.” This is all fine and good. Until the site officially launches, however, the site features a countdown clock to Missouri’s first game, and a video, that at best is curious, and at worst, egregious, ethically speaking. The video features “interviews” from a golf tournament held in 2011 by John Anderson, a Mizzou alum, and SportsCenter anchor. I put interviews in quotes because they’re less interviews and more testimonials. These testimonials feature Michael Kim of ESPN, Linda Cohn of ESPN, Jon Hamm of Mad [...]

Video: Jon Hamm Rips Manti Te’o AND Notre Dame Sex Life With One Joke

ESPYS host Jon Hamm (of Mad Men fame) is pulling no punches tonight. He just ripped on Manti Te’o and Notre Dame “girls” all at once.  Funny, or too far?

ESPY Awards Live: Jon Hamm Hosts Annual Sporting Showcase From Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater

11 a.m. ET: Some would call Wednesday, July 17 the worst day on the sporting calendar. The NBA and NHL are deep into their respective offseasons, NFL teams have yet to reconvene for training camp and Major League Baseball is enjoying the All-Star break, leaving sports fans’ plates rather empty on this random summer weeknight. Luckily, the sporting landscape will not be completely...

ESPYs Host Jon Hamm Takes Shots at Dwight Howard, Manti T’eo in Opening Monologue (Video)

Wednesday night was the slowest sports night of the year, which made for a good time to get some of the best athletes in the world all in the same room to hand out some trophies. That’s what the ESPY Awards have been doing for some time, and the 2013 event took place Thursday night. As is customary with the ESPYs and pretty much any award show, the festivities were kicked off with...

Video: Jon Hamm pokes fun at Dwight Howard and the Heat (and their fans)

Mad Men's Jon Hamm nailed his opening monologue to the ESPY's tonight. Of course it dealt with all sports, but his basketball jokes were great. I might be the only one, but I actually laughed the longest to the Bruno Mars line. Dwyane Wade on the other hand loved Dwight Howard's L.A. highlight video.

BREAKING: Bomb Threat Reported At The ESPYS

We’ve got some unfortunate news out of Los Angeles this afternoon, where a bomb threat seems to have put the ESPYs (ESPN’s annual awards show) on ice for the time being.  Twitter users started reporting an evacuation just after 4:30 p.m. ET.  The TFB @ESPYS Dunk Contest has been stopped during warm ups due to a Bomb Threat. Hopefully we can get back out on the court today...

New Gary Pinkel website includes not-so-new video

HOW STOKED ARE YOU GUYS FOR THE LAUNCH OF GARYPINKEL.COM? Whoa. I’m so excited that I forgot I was typing in caps lock. Anyway, the site isn’t fully operational yet, but it does come with the recommendation of several national media types and Don Draper himself! Of course, the aforementioned video is also two years old — as noted by St. Louis Post-Dispatch beat writer Dave...

Jon Hamm Zings Dwight Howard at ESPYs

During last night's ESPYs, host Jon Hamm went after NBA star Dwight Howard with a few brutal zingers. And we mean brutal.
