The one thing that was glaringly obvious this past Saturday was how committed Georgia is going to be to throwing the deep ball. Murray took several shots down the field against Buffalo and, though he only managed to connect on a couple, you got a feel for just how serious the Bulldogs are going about stretching the offense—even without Orson Charles. That said, the sheer number of missed connections by Murray to several of his Bulldog teammates—most notably overthrown passes to Tavarres King and Rantavious Wooten—had some wondering if Murray really made the necessary improvements he’s been speaking about all off-season. In his defense, if you’re willing to accept the explanation, Murray made it known that his roving deep passes were less about an ability to hit his target and more about an inability to keep his emotions in check. “They were there,” Murray said. “They did a great job, Tavarres and Woot, of stretching the field. I was just a little amped up.
