ATLANTA (AP) Georgia receiver Malcolm Mitchell will miss the remainder of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in Saturday's loss at Clemson. Coach Mark Richt said Sunday that Mitchell will have season-ending surgery "in the near future." Mitchell, the leading returning receiver for the No. 5 Bulldogs, hurt his knee when celebrating with a teammate following Todd Gurley's 75-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. No. 8 Clemson beat Georgia 38-35. "He actually hurt it in the exuberance of the first touchdown of the game for us," Richt said on a conference call. "He went to congratulate his teammate and I think they jumped up and chest-bumped or whatever and it ended up that he landed in a bad way. So he knew something happened." Richt said concerns Mitchell suffered a serious injury were confirmed by an MRI on Sunday. Georgia opens its Southeastern Conference schedule against No. 6 South Carolina on S...

Georgia fan cries on sports radio, thinks Georgia should get rid of Mark Richt

One of the most entertaining things about the college football season is listening to angry fans call into sports talk radio shows the week after their team has suffered a loss. But rarely does that anger turn into sadness in front of the radio audience. That rarity happened on CBS Atlanta’s 92.9 The Game this weekend when a Georgia fan was so passionate about Georgia getting rid...

College Football Week 1 Retrospection: Where Mark Richt inched closer to the hot seat

Week 1 of the college football season came and we all rejoiced. Now it’s gone and it’s time for retrospection. Big plays were made, good games were played and Mark Richt looks to be on his way to the hot seat. Let’s look back. Despite a lackluster offensive performance, Alabama still found a way to dominate Alabama’s 35-10 win over Virginia Tech wasn’t pretty, but boy...

Who lost the most on Saturday?

What teams hurt themselves the most by losing Saturday? At least for one school it totally took it out of the BCS picture, and one other school's loss did some considerable undermining to its BCS chances. 1. Boise State. An embarrassing 38-6 loss to Washington instantly takes Boise State out of the running for a BCS title this season. 2. Georgia. The Bulldog's 38-35...

This is pretty hilarious.  After the fifth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs lost a classic game 38-35 in their season opener against the eighth-ranked Tigers of Clemson, one die hard UGA fan called a local radio station to vent.  He definitely did the venting part, but he took it even further when he started crying on the air about how Georgia needs to fire current head coach Mark Richt...

Georgia Fan Cries on Radio Show After Bulldogs’ Loss to Clemson (Audio)

They take their college football seriously in the SEC. Too seriously, some might say. This example of over-the-top fanaticism comes from this past Saturday night, shortly after No. 5 Georgia dropped its season opener 38-35 on the road at Clemson. The loss was far from a stunning upset — Clemson came into the game ranked eighth in the nation — and does not doom the Bulldogs...

South Carolina-Georgia Preview

Georgia's only conference losses the past two seasons have come against South Carolina, with those defeats seemingly inspiring back-to-back runs to the SEC championship game. That doesn't mean the 11th-ranked Bulldogs are planning to test that theory again. Georgia looks to avoiding starting 0-2 for the second time in three seasons by ending a three-game losing streak to...
