Graham Has Sun Devils Rolling, Seeking Second Straight Win Over Mizzou

By SBRForum.com

One of the best games on the Week 3 NCAA football slate pits teams from the Pac-12 and SEC against each other, and we are set to make our Arizona State Sun Devils and Missouri Tigers college football picks for the clash.

The Sun Devils are out of the block in fine form under new Head Coach Todd Graham. They were able to trash both the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks (no big deal) and the Illinois Fighting Illini (a significantly bigger deal) in consecutive weeks, and now, they have to come on the road to Faurot Field, where an any bunch of Tigers are waiting.

Missouri has to feel like it really let its first SEC game in school history get away from it. The opportunities were there to knock off the No. 6 Georgia Bulldogs, but it felt as though every chance QB James Franklin and the Tigers got, they turned the ball right back over or made a foolish mistake. In the second half, those missed chances really came back to hurt, as the Bulldogs flexed their muscles and ran away with a three-TD victory.

Arizona State committed just one penalty against Illinois, and that's the discipline that it takes to be able to win games on the road.

Sophomore QB Taylor Kelly really looks like he is going to be the real deal as well. Sure, it is easy to get excited over just two games, but Kelly has thrown for 496 yards and two scores, and he has shown the ability to run the ball as well, picking up 69 yards on the ground.

These two squads met last year in the desert, and a significantly different looking ASU club was able to come away with a 37-30 overtime victory. The two teams combined for a shade under 1,000 yards of offense, proof that neither defense really had the other team figured out. Both teams scored at least once in all four quarters.

With their home field advantage in Columbia, the Tigers are laying 6 ½-points, but we just aren't all that sure that that is justified. Arizona State has looked the significantly better of these two teams thus far on the young campaign, and it looks to be the more disciplined of the clubs.

Kickoff from Faurot Field is slated for 7:00 p.m. (ET) on Saturday night.

Sun Devils shed their undisciplined ways

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Todd Graham has preached discipline since the first day on the job as Arizona State's head football coach. The constant harping has already had an impact. In the first two games of Graham's tenure, ASU has demonstrated a 180-degree change from the undisciplined teams that had become the norm during the past few seasons. "From practice to the pregame...

Mizzou wide receiver says new helmet rule is "stupid"

So far, during their short stint in the SEC, the Missouri Tigers football team has not been afraid to speak their minds regarding how they feel. Moe lit up the room with a barrage of quotes about Mizzou will...

Arizona State Sun Devils at Missouri Tigers Week 3 College Football Preview

http://www.columbiatribune.com/news/2012/sep/11/tigers-not-fans-of-ncaas-helmet-rule/?tigerextra The Sun Devils proved to the Big Ten that they are no match to play with boys from the Pac-12 when they come to the desert. It helped that the Illini did not have their best offensive weapon (Nathan Scheelhaase), but give credit to an explosive offense that exposed the Big Ten’s defense...
