On Friday the Rutgers Scarlet Knights defeated the Iowa State Cyclones 27-13 to win the New Era Pinstripe Bowl played at Yankee Stadium in Da Bronx, New York.  After the game, Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano dedicated the team's victory to Eric LeGrand.  Schiano grabbed a stadium microphone and addressed LeGrand who was seated in the Rutgers team box and was being shown on the stadiums big video scoreboard.  Schiano said "Hey Big E, this one's for you buddy!"  "My heart kind of jumped because I wasn't expecting it," LeGrand told the Associated Press in an interview after the game.  Last October LeGrand suffered a severe spinal injury during a game against the Army Black Knicks in New Meadowlands Stadium. The 6'2", 275 lbs. defensive tackle attempted to tackle Malcolm Brown of Army. They collided, and LeGrand lay on the ground for several minutes before being carted off, apparently only able to move his head. He was taken to the intensive care unit of the Hackensack University Medical Center, in Hackensack New Jersey, where doctors determined that LeGrand was paralyzed from the neck down.  About two weeks later he was transferred to Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, one of the nation's leaders in spinal cord rehabilitation. On January 6, 2011, Rutgers announced that LeGrand had regained movement in his shoulders and sensation throughout his body.  In July 2011, LeGrand tweeted photos of himself standing upright and announced that he was steadily regaining movement in his arms.  LeGrand's return to the football field in a wheelchair on October 2011 was chosen by Sports Illustrated readers as the Best Moment of 2011.
