Illinois has been busy recruiting for their 2012 season. The past couple of weeks the Illini were able to sign 4 new recruits. Ron Zook and the staff usually don’t start signing recruits until late in the season. So this is a typical situation.

The Fighting Illini swimming and diving team finished its first day of action at the Northwestern Invitational Friday night in second place after tallying 216 points through seven events. The Illini will work tomorrow to close the gap between themselves and current first-place team, Northwestern (267 points).

With one of the team's largest crowds of the year behind it, the Michigan State volleyball team (20-9, 9-8 Big Ten) stunned No. 7 Illinois (24-4, 13-4 Big Ten), 3-1 inside Jenison Field House on Friday night. The senior class of Kyndra Abron, Natalie Emro, Jenilee Rathje, Carli Weiler and Becca Zlabis led the Spartans over the Fighting Illini.
