Jadeveon Clowney has joined the likes of Johnny Manziel as the latest college football player to take out insurance with the NCAA. USA Today reported the story on the South Carolina defensive end’s move to secure his future. The insurance comes through the NCAA’s ‘exceptional student-athlete disability  insurance program’.  Clowney’s policy is the largest financial protection available through the plan. Rumors swirled that Clowney would consider taking the coming season off to avoid injury for next year’s draft, but he has refuted any such claims: “Sitting out? I never thought of it. I’m going to go to school and play.” It’s safe to say the insurance policy is just for the uncertainties that come with the game. He’s right to protect himself in case of injury and take control of his talents by protecting them from the future.
