Lane Kiffin reinstated linebacker Simione Vehikite, who was released from jail last week, and his return to the team was at the expense of a walk-on player's scholarship.
It's a good thing USC pursued and landed Silas Redd.
USC Coach Lane Kiffin confirmed Wednesday that sophomore tailback D.J. Morgan would have knee surgery. Morgan had tweeted his status earlier in the day.
Morgan, who started two games in 2011, rushed for seven yards in his only carry Saturday in the Trojans' 49-10 season-opening victory over Hawaii.
Morgan had reconstructive...
As those of us who watch college athletics know all too well, coaching at a high-profile Division-I program is typically more about winning than anything else. Players who contribute to the winning cause are constantly allowed to bend the rules both in the classroom and in everyday life. At USC, for example, a player can be sentenced to jail time and have his scholarship waiting...
As the college football season has begun, so has the 2012-2013 NFL Draft scouting season. I had the privilege to attend two games myself (Temple vs. Villanova, Delaware vs. West Chester) on the opening weekend along with watch many more games across the country. As will be a weekly occurrence on Optimum Scouting (generally on Monday’s once college football schedule is back to normal...
If Matt Barkley and the Trojans play like this every week, they will walk to the BCS National Championship Game
Who Looked Good:
Matt Barkley and the USC Trojans:
Hats off to Matt Barkley and the USC Trojans for delivering on the hype that has followed them since the end of last season. Barkley looked like a Heisman candidate throwing for 4 TD’s and 372 yards against the Hawaii...
It’s OK to admit it…you miss the Andrew Luck Sweepstakes. Trust me, I do too. More than you can ever know. Perhaps it’s all my pent-up Cowboys frustration, but there’s just something magical about reveling in the misery of others. The Sweepstakes not only enabled this sadistic sense in me, it allowed me and thousands of others just like me to create narrative out of...
USC defeated Hawaii 49-10 in their season opener on Saturday afternoon, thanks in large part to the efforts of sophomore receiver Marqise Lee. Lee caught a Matt Barkley pass for a touchdown on the first play of the game, then later broke for a 100 yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
The Trojans continue to prepare to travel to the east coast to take on Syracuse at MetLife Stadium on Saturday...
USC redshirt sophomore Hayes Pullard moved inside to start at middle linebacker versus Hawaii. Pullard picked an interception and returned it for a touchdown in the first quarter of USC's 49-10 win over the Warriors.
USC students and alumni weren't the only ones singing "Fight On" last Saturday. Fox executive Dan Shell was also screaming his lungs out at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum as the Trojans trounced Hawaii, 49-10, albeit for slightly different reasons.
Shell is in charge of selling sponsorships for USC's athletic programs. But while Shell's title is vice president...

When Syracuse takes on #2 USC Saturday at MetLife, there’s no way it can lose.
Yeah, you read that right.
After the gut-wrenching loss to Northwestern, SU is playing for far more than a football game. It’s playing for recognition, recruiting clout, brand power, and a chance to re-emerge on the stage of college football’s better-known programs.
With an actual win, all of those...
The Syracuse Orange face a daunting task in trying to defeat one of the nation's best on Saturday. CuseNation.com takes an in-depth look at what to expect from the USC Trojans.
You missed us. Really, we know, you did. You missed us. How do you like us now?
Haha! For those of you unfamiliar, we return with OSG Sports list of both the Best and Worst of College Football each week.
And we show you clips from The Dirty Dozen movie:
No, we don't necessarily agree with the pollsters. (We don't have to) And we think Pre-Season polls are...
Last week we decided to start fielding TTD questions from readers instead of writing them for each other every week like a couple of weirdos with no friends. This week's question comes from Frank Reed, who got so sick of watching his Wolverines get throttled by Alabama Saturday that he started sending us hypothetical scenarios to write about halfway through the first quarter...
