Michigan Football added kicker JJ McGrath (Macomb, Michigan) to their 2013 recruiting class. McGrath will be a preferred walk-on and is slated to receive a full scholarship when Brendan Gibbons completes his final season of eligibility this year. McGrath has a big leg and booted a 57 yard field goal for his Lutheran North High School team this season. He actually grew up in Holt, Michigan and was a fan of the Spartans. He’s now a Michigan man and has the potential to be an outstanding kicker at the collegiate level. Michigan has 26 commits with two more slots to fill in their 2013 class. One of those slots is being reserved for 5-star running back Derrick Green, who will announce on January 26th. The other spot could end up being tight end Durham Smythe (Belton, Texas). The big, 6-foot-6, 230 pounder is 4-star prospect and is ranked the #6 tight end in the nation by ESPNU. Smythe is scheduled for an official visit to Michigan and is also considering Stanford and Notre Dame.
