Former North Carolina State coach Chuck Amato is Akron's new defensive coordinator. New Akron coach Terry Bowden named Amato his associate head coach Tuesday. The 65-year-old Amato coached North Carolina State, his alma mater, from 2000-06, posting a 49-37 record and leading the Wolfpack to five bowl games.
