The Sooners travel to South Bend, IN and try to avenge a loss from last year 30-13. Oklahoma got beat down in every aspect of the game at home in Norman,OK last year and it still leaves a sour taste in their mouth. This year Bob Stoops and his Oklahoma boys were not in the preseason top 10 na didn’t bring back a sure-fire starting quarterback and have honestly been flying under the radar this season and I think it’s for the better. Notre Dame lost to big pieces from that game Manti Te’o and freshman quarterback Everett Golson. Brian Kelly lost a difficult game earlier this season versus Michigan but the Fighting Irish BCS dreams are still alive with two back to back signature wins over the likes of Michigan St and possibly the Sooners. Notre Dame is physical and hard-nosed again even with the loss of its leader Te’o. Tommy Rees and that offense hope to put up enough points versus OU who scored 51 versus Tulsa in Blake Bell’ s first career start. Oklahoma has been known for it QB’s throwing the ball effectively the past decade with good reason but don’t expect Blake Bell to throw the ball 40 or 50 times Saturday versus the Irish in South Bend. Running the ball with Bell in his Belldozer package will be a key in this weekends game. The diamond package that will include Finch, Williams, Millard and Clay will also cause problems for ND, these four backs including Millard will get plenty of touches for the Sooner squad and make sure to use tempo, tempo, tempo. protecting Bell behind this o-line will be a big play in for OY’s offense as well Jalen Saunders will need at least 8-12 touches in my opinion in order for them to win. On defense the Sooners are solid especially in the secondary with All-American Aaron Colvin. OU are lacking All-American talent all over but OU is young and have plenty of elite defenders. OU is deep and have a nice 7 man rotation at the defensive line position. There are still a lot of questions left unanswered and many mistakes to be made on defense for OU the key for the Stoops brothers and the coaching staff is to limit them on the road this weekend. For Notre Dame’s offense it’s been average to say the least. Rees has held it down well this season and they’ve run the ball okay at times but they’ll need to be more reliable if they want to beat OU and win out that tough Independent schedule. Rees was 14-36 versus Michigan St and he can’t play that way versus this athletic secondary of Oklahoma. The Sooners are allowing just nine points per game but DeVaris Daniels and TJ Jones are both top-notch prospects who will challenge OU’s back 4 all evening. On defense Notre Dame may have lost one of the best linebackers in college football history but they are still loaded with tons of talent. True freshman Jaylon Smith is the best freshman defensive player in the country and already an elite linebacker for the squad, Jarrett Grace and Dan Fox are also no slouches either at the linebacker position. Stephon Tuitt and Louis Nix III are bona-fide superstars up front t and led one of the best lines in the nation, getting pressure up front is the biggest thing for Notre Dame to do Saturday. Notre Dame has to control Oklahoma’s temo and make sure Bell doesn’t run all over them especially on third and shorts. The outcome in this game will be close just like another game at 3;30 UGA vs LSU. Oklahoma has talent all over the board and I expect a big game from Blake Bell but I think Tommy Rees and the offense will click and finally find rhythm during this heavyweight fight. Daniels and Jones will make a big difference and so will Bennett Jackson will a key interception late.
