West Virginia head football coach Dana Holgorsen admitted earlier this week that the school’s athletic facilities had been lagging way behind the rest of the Big 12′s. However, that will no longer be the case by this football season, as the Caperton Indoor Practice Facility is getting a serious makeover. The weight room was already one of the largest in the nation at roughly 23,000 square feet (although Alabama’s is an insane 34,000 square feet), but it is now being expanded by about 1,800 more. Most of that space will be for the addition of a new three lane, 40-yard running track. The Mountaineers will also have all-new equipment and the facility will be designed in a more aesthetically pleasing way to become more attractive to recruits. The whole project will cost around $2.6 million. Today, the WVU football Twitter account posted a photo of the new-look room — it’s still empty, but you can see how massive the room is — the guess here is that it will be an incredible facility: Great progress being made on our new weight room at the Puskar Center. #WVU #HailWV http://t.co/CtjPlmhV99 — WVU Football (@WVUfootball) June 18, 2013
