Found November 12, 2011 on The Duck Stops Here:
The Ducks were opportunistic in relentless in spoiling a perfect season for the Stanford Cardinal, winning 53-30 on a soggy grass field in Stanford Stadium. They picked off Andrew Luck twice, Mr. Heads Up Boseko Lokombo gathering in a bobble off the hands of Stanford freshman Ty Montgomery and returning it 40 yards for Oregon's final score. The Heisman Trophy candidate on the field tonight was Oregon's LaMichael James, who rushed 20 times for 146 yards and three touchdowns, including a 58-yard td scamper in the second quarter. The Ducks scored first on a Darron Thomas pass to Lavasier Tuinei in the right corner of the end zone, went for two on a trick play, a pass to long snapper Drew Howell to lead 8-0, and never trailed. Oregon's speed was the difference. On the doctored field they had scoring plays of 58, 41, 59, and 40 yards. With the win, and a loss at home by Boise State to TCU, another field goal wide right as time expired, the Ducks should move to #4 or #5 i...

Stanford, Oregon meet in Pac-12's game of the year

Andrew Luck insists his dorm room doesn't have a calendar. He doesn't wear a watch, and his outdated cellphone doesn't even show the day of the week. Luck needs no reminder about Nov. 12. Since he announced in a one-sentence news release in January that he would return to school, Luck instantly put Stanford and Oregon on a collision course for that date. Everything...

On Paper, Upset Potential, Don’t Bother

On Paper #6 Oregon vs. #3 Stanford We may not have the playoffs (see Straitpinkie’s BaRackets ) but games like this will help determine who plays in the National Championship. Which Heisman hopefuls will be NFL stars/busts?

Winning the Heisman Trophy is not a ticket to NFL stardom. For every Roger Staubach and Tony Dorsett, there's a Gino Torretta and Rashaan Salaam. So where does that place Stanford's Andrew Luck, Alabama's Trent Richardson and Boise State's Kellen Moore? Luck looks like a lock to be the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft in April. Richardson could return to...

5 Things I Learned About College Football – Week 11 Review

That huge noise you heard Saturday night…the whooshing of air…that was the NCAA (and BCS) exhaling, knowing they will not have to worry about Boise State crashing the national championship party this year.  Like last season, the Broncos’ season came to a jolting end as a 39-yard field goal attempt was no good and TCU upset Boise, on the blue turf, ending their BCS hopes....

Heisman Watch Week 11: Could Luck’s Loss Be Richardson, Moore or the Field’s Gain?

Trent Richardson Proving once again that there are no easy weekend in the SEC, Richardson and Alabama had a difficult time getting in a groove against Mississippi State. Richardson did, however, record 127 yards and a touchdown on the ground combined with 26 more yards through the air. It was Richardson’s score in the fourth quarter that all but sealed the tough victory for the...

Oregon takes the defensive to reassert its Pac-12 rule

Oregon 53, Stanford 30. Based on the final score, you're probably thinking "Business as usual," which is true to an extent: Oregon's never going to turn down three touchdown passes from Darron Thomas on the same night it gets 146 yards and three touchdowns on the ground from LaMichael James. Eighty-three points by both teams even eclipsed the over/under. But it...
