Newly-drafted Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins is in for a rude awakening. Watkins grew up in South Florida and played for Clemson in South Carolina, so you would think that he would be bracing himself for the winter he’s about to spend in frigid Buffalo, N.Y. However, he seems to think he’s ready for it. “At Clemson, I saw a lot of snow this year,” Watkins said, as reported by NFL.com. “I can play in the cold. I’ve been playing in the cold for three years.” What Watkins calls “cold” is nothing compared to Buffalo. For The Win pointed out that the average temperature in Clemson, S.C. in December is a mild 54 degrees compared to Buffalo’s 34 degree average. Buffalo also averages 86 inches of snow per year, while Watkins saw only four inches in his time at Clemson. Oakland Raiders draft pick Khalil Mack, who played for the University of Buffalo, certainly knows what Watkins is getting himself into and had some wise words for the wide receiver. “He’d better get ready,” Mack said. “It’s about to get real.” Someone better at least buy Watkins a nice shovel as a going-away gift.
