Get The Picture:
With this last regular season power poll, I’m going to repeat something I did last year and include the net conference per game yardage numbers for each team. There should be a rough correlation between the net numbers and won-loss records.
LSU (12-0, 8-0) [+167.1 ypg]. First, the Tigers won the Arkansas game. Then Les Miles won the postgame.
Alabama (11-1, 7-1) [+233.5 ypg]. Nice of Nick Saban to recognize LSU as “probably” the best team in the country, don’t you think?
Arkansas (10-2, 6-2)[+37.9 ypg]. It’s tempting to drop the Hogs behind Georgia, but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt from the schedule.
Georgia (10-2, 7-1)[+155.0 ypg]. The gaudy net yardage number suggests the Dawgs deserve more credit for their record than they’re getting.
South Carolina (10-2, 6-2)[+82.3 ypg]. Spurrier’s happy with that tenth win, but it’s the Auburn loss that’s going to stick with him in the offseason.
Auburn (7-5, 4-4) [-93.9 ypg]. At first glance, you might argue they overach

COACH MILES: We'd like to offer congratulations to a great Georgia team for winning the East. I know they started slowly but got it in gear. Mark Richt has done a great job there. I can tell you that our football team is looking forward to competing against them, the opportunity to get through the regular season and get to a game that is representative of the conference championship...
Nick Saban says picking the two most worthy teams is the only criteria that should matter to poll voters helping to choose the national championship game participants.
The Crimson Tide coach says, ''Who's the best two teams? That's the question.''
Of course he has a vested interest.
His criteria means not voting the second-ranked Tide lower to avoid a rematch...
BATON ROUGE -- As his undefeated team prepares to face No. 12 Georgia in the Southeastern Conference Championship game, LSU football head coach Les Miles spoke to the media at his weekly press conference.
Les Miles did not even want to contemplate whether his top-ranked Tigers might get a bid to the BCS title game even if they lost next weekend's SEC championship showdown with Georgia.
''I just want you to know something,'' Miles said. ''There would be no way that this team could come to Atlanta and not play their best.''
At this point, though...
LSU coach Les Miles answers questions about the upcoming meeting with Georgia in the SEC title game.
If LSU coach Les Miles is up for it, count Nick Saban in. Much of the post-game talk after No. 2 Alabama’s 42-14 win at Auburn was of an Alabama/LSU rematch in the BCS national title game.
Nick Saban has a message to the poll voters who will help determine whether Alabama plays for a national title: Be "fair."
By now, John and I have made our feelings pretty clear about a potential rematch in the BCS title game between LSU and Alabama, who happen to be ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the latest BCS standings. It’s not a guarantee that the two teams will meet again just over two months after…

AUBURN, Ala. -- They did everything they could do. Alabama put an emphatic exclamation point on their bid for another trip to the BCS Championship, and in the process, they exacted revenge on their biggest rival with a 42-14 win over Auburn in the Iron Bowl.

The only certainty for No. 2 Alabama is that its postseason destination is New Orleans. When and which game remains to be determined. The Crimson Tide polished off its body of work with Saturday's 42-14 romp at Auburn. Now Nick Saban and his players will be spectators while No. 3 Oklahoma State and No.
11-WIN SEASONS: The win over Auburn marked the 11th on the season for Auburn. It is the 15th 11-win season in Crimson Tide history. The 15 11-win seasons ties Penn State for the second most 11-win seasons in college football history. UA has won 11 or more games three times under head coach Nick Saban.
Bloody Sunday in the college football coaching ranks has come to a close. We know who's hitting the bricks, but who's going to be replacing them?
Per usual, athletic directors will be making eyes at the Chris Petersens and Gary Pattersons of the coaching fraternity. You'll probably hear some wild rumors about egomaniacal boosters with more money than sense putting together...
