Virginia Tech may suddenly be reclaiming a bit of its identity. The Hokies, known for great special teams play under head coach Frank Beamer, had been struggling in that aspect of the game so far this year. However, VT finds itself off to a hot start against Marshall today after senior CB Kyle Fuller blocked a punt after a solid defensive series to open the game. Fuller got the block, and Derek DiNardo returned the football 11 yards for the score — here’s video:

Virginia Tech Hokies stone helmet concept is real

After a few days of rumors swirling, confirmation came on Thursday that the Virginia Tech Hokies stone helmet concept is actually a real idea.  Andy Bitter of the Roanoke Times confirmed that this helmet is in the early design stages.  I’m not really sure why this is a concept but it is truly brutal, this helmet has no business on the football field. Frank Beamer's website has confirmed that Virginia Tech is designing "Hokie Stone" helmets that look like campus buildings. Very intriguing.
