Those die-hard Ohio State Buckeyes fans are at it again. Buckeyes fans are so upset about their 11-0 football team being unable to participate in the postseason due to NCAA sanctions that they created a White House petition to ask President Obama to pardon the team. Here’s what the petition said (via With Leather): WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO: Pardon The Ohio State Buckeyes from unjust NCAA sanctions preventing their rightful access to a BCS bowl game. The Ohio State University football team is one win away from an undefeated season. However, due to imposed sanctions, they are not allowed to participate in their conference’s championship game or the following bowl season. While a punishment for past indiscretions is to be expected, a bowl season ban is too harsh for a few young men trading memorabilia for tattoos and some change. The offending players and coach who covered it up are no longer part of the program. Please exercise your executive power to pardon the NCAA’s...

No bowl for Buckeyes? This week, it's no issue

Understandably, the countdown to Saturday's Ohio State - Michigan game includes discussion of what might have been for the 11-0 but bowl-banned Buckeyes and several what-if scenarios. The Buckeyes have earned the right to be highly-regarded and highly-ranked, and to think about what might have been if not for the one-year postseason ban levied by the NCAA. This week, though,...

Ohio State’s One Game Season

On Saturday afternoon I drove to the barbershop to get a haircut where I was greeted by the owner who happens to be a war veteran that has more opinions than there are topics. Just my kind of place. I was sporting an Ohio State hoodie and upon sitting down, he asks me if I think the Buckeyes will beat Wisconsin this afternoon. I replied, emphatically: “I sure do. I hope that they...
