What more can AJ McCarron do to become a firt round pick? After all, the guy has won three national titles and is working for a fourth, has broken numerous records in both Alabama and SEC record books, and leads the nation in passing efficiency. McCarron has had an incredible four years at Alabama, and in my opinion should be a first round pick. Here’s why: Efficiency McCarron doesn’t play for a team that is known as a passing team. Alabama is a dominant running team, but when a pass is made, you better believe it will be completed. From 2011-2012 McCarron had the 2nd best ranking in SEC history by throwing 291 consecutive passes without an interception. Not only that, but he also had an outstanding QPR rate of 173.08 in 2012. McCarron is one of the nation’s top quarterbacks simply because of how well he executes. I think if Alabama were more of a passing team, McCarron would definitely have better stats, but being the running team they are, McCarron has unselfishly been that quarterback to help with the running game and throw when needed. Field Vision McCarron has a special gift when it comes to field vision. He is great at leading the receiver with a pass, and even better at not forcing a pass when the defense is playing great coverage. McCarron is not a quarterback to throw and hope, he is a quarterback to throw and know. So far in 2013, he has thrown for over 1,000 yards and 14 touchdowns. He has completed 126 out of 182 attempts. We’ll let the stats speak for themselves. Leadership McCarron has the quality of leadership. Many people remember the 2012 Alabama vs LSU game when McCarron led his team to a come from behind victory in Death Valley. But many forget the many times he didn’t have to come from behind— he helped them stay ahead. McCarron is a leader- you can see it in his eyes. Even the last snap of the game, he is playing like it’s the first. He encourages and is there to reprimand the team when necessary. You know a quarterback is a leader when he is able to help lead his team to a possible third straight title. Follow isportsweb on twitter All in all, McCarron is definitely NFL worthy. While many think he should be a late pick, I think differently. I truly believe AJ McCarron should be ranked higher at this point in the NFL draft. A lot of quarterbacks have great stats but lack the true natural leadership skills certain quarterbacks have. McCarron is that certain quarterback. He would be a great asset to any NFL team. AJ McCarron isn’t a game manager, he is a game changer. Read more Alabama rumors, news and opinion on our Alabama football page

A.J. McCarron recalls Terrence Cody's memorable field goal block from 2009 Alabama-Tennessee game.

A.J McCarron. Photo via What does the Alabama-Tennessee rivalry game mean to Crimson Tide starting quarterback A.J. McCarron? Not much, apparently, as a recent interview with would indicate. "Just another school. I don't think about them any more than I do anybody else," McCarron said. "Just another week, another game. That's the...

Report: Nick Saban's wife property hunting in Austin

It didn't take long after the season started for many people to start calling for Mack Brown's job in Austinagain. One fan started selling "Saban 2014" T-shirts after the Longhorns 1-2 start in reference to Texas possibly luring Nick Saban away from Alabama. There are even websites to help promote the idea. One report revealed in Sept. that a Texas regent had...

Texas May Have An Opening With Nick Saban After All

Texas may be looking for a new coach at the end of the season. If so, the popular choice is Nick Saban and the Alabama fans may help make that happen. @TessWitt/Twitter Some teams have been having attendance issues of late--even the defending national champions. You would think that fans would be behind the Alabama football team having made winning the national championship...

Saban tells Tide fans to take a seat!

The problem with beating the pants off of just about everyone you play is that fans are bound to leave early when the score gets ugly. And that's no different at Alabama, where swaths of fans -- particularly students -- have ditched their seats in favor of more fun elsewhere before the final whistle of multiple home games at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Here are just a couple examples...

Nick Saban Wants Alabama Fans To Stay For Entire Games Or Not Come At All

Alabama has been having a football attendance problem all season, as crazy as that sounds. The program that currently wins more than any other in college football can get fans to show up to games, but has a hard time keeping those fans in their seats for four quarters, particularly the students. Earlier this season, Alabama started a “Play For Four, Stay For Four” campaign, and...

Photo: Tennessee lumber store tries to troll Nick Saban with poorly worded sign

If you are going to try and troll Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide, you better make sure you at least present your case in a grammatically correct format. Hint: extra emphasis on "you are." Seen here is an attempt by a Tennessee lumber store (Witt Lumber) to send a message to Saban and the Tide ahead of Saturday's game against the Volunteers. ...

Mekhi Brown: Alabama Commit, Stanford Offer

Will Tide Celebrate Cigar Saturday?

Alabama Coach Nick Saban knows what it will take before Saturday for the Crimson Tide to be ready to take on an improving Tennessee team. He is not particularly interested in the post-game tradition.

Alabama fans paint Tennessee’s rock with red and ‘Roll Tide’

Alabama and Tennessee are set to square off this weekend in what is a fierce rivalry because of conference alignment and geography, though the games have not exactly been competitive in recent years. The Crimson Tide have beaten the Vols by 31 points in each of their last three meetings. As a result, Alabama fans […]

Shepherd Excited In Tennessee Week

Following Tuesday’s Alabama football practice, Crimson Tide offensive tackle was out of uniform and into civvies. Except, of course, for a football player that post-practice dress often includes ice bags, bandages, tape.

Alabama fans deface Tennessee’s rock

The Alabama Crimson Tide fans seem to have invaded Knoxville a bit early for this weekend’s game against the Tennessee Volunteers.  The Tide fans defaced the famous Tennessee rock and I think that it’s safe to say that the rock is being repainted as I type this. [Lost Lettermen]
