Found October 29, 2012 on Feelin' Kinda Blue:
The Dodgers had one of the best-looking outfields in the National League heading into the 2012 season. Despite not having a left fielder, the combination of Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier were tough to beat. After acquiring Carl Crawford, the outfield should be that much better in 2013 and beyond. Dodger outfielders by the numbers Left Field .254/.325/.349 76 R, 34 2B, 4 3B, 6 HR, 52 RBI, 21 SB, 63 BB Center Field .275/.340/.449 98 R, 30 2B, 5 3B, 23 HR, 84 RBI, 21 SB, 58 BB Right Field .265/.328/.439 86 R, 38 2B, 1 3B, 23 HR, 97 RBI, 3 SB, 52 BB Individual performers Bobby Abreu .246/.361/.344, 3 HR, 19 RBI, 28 R, 15.2 BB% - Abreu was picked up off waivers in May and got off to a nice start as a Dodger. In his first 33 games, Abreu hit .326/.444/.461 while playing a lot of left field. His next 37 games, however, were forgettable: .178/.267/.222. His poor performance got him designated for assignment. After a brief minor-league stint, he was exclusively a p...

When I Bought This Card, Half Of The Players WERE NOT Dodgers. Oh Look, It's My 200th Kemp!

Matt Kemp cards are getting pricey, so when an affordable one is available, I can't jump on it quickly enough. This particular addition brought along a few friends that are new to my collection and otherwise wouldn't be in it if they weren't sharing a card with The Bison. Oh, it also happens to be my 200th Kemp!Shane Victorino is a guy I don't hate, like a lot of...

Dodgers sign Brandon League to 3-year deal, not the end of the world

No matter the similarities in the length and money, the Dodgers signing Brandon League to nearly the same deal Juan Uribe got is actually not a bad thing. The team signed the veteran right-handed reliever to a 3-year, $22.5 million contract on Tuesday with a vesting option for 2016. It really isn't the end of the world, despite what you may have read on Twitter. I will...

Brandon League on a three-year deal is horrifying, both because of him and reliever history

I didn’t like the Brandon League trade at the time it was executed, primarily because the effect that a reliever can have in such a short time period is both volatile and minimal. That dislike for the deal grew to mockery when he got off to a horrid start, but after the Dodgers said they fixed his mechanics (and I found that they actually did), he reeled off an undoubtedly impressive...

Dodgers' Billingsley throws without pain

Chad Billingsley pitched to hitters for two pain-free innings Monday, a sign that he may be able to avoid reconstructive elbow surgery this off-season. "It looks like he's going to be ready for the 2013 season," said Dave Stewart, Billingsley's agent. Billingsley sat out the final month of the season because of a partially torn ligament in his right elbow and...

MLB Rumors: Will Los Angeles Dodgers Trade Andre Ethier?

The Los Angeles Dodgers signed Andre Ethier to a lucrative contract extension worth $85 million over the next five years. Everyone around the league knew that they may have grossly overpaid him and, with the other players that the Dodgers acquired around the 2012 MLB trade deadline keeping them on the hook for large sums of money over many years, there is now the possibility that...

Options on Rivera, Coffey declined

The Dodgers have declined to exercise their 2013 options on outfielder Juan Rivera, reliever Todd Coffey and backup catcher Matt Treanor. Rivera is due a $500,000 buyout since the club turned down his $4 million option. He batted .244 with 47 RBI while switching between left field and first base in his first season with Los Angeles. Coffey was 1-0 with a 4.66 ERA. The right-hander...

Dodgers decline options on Rivera, Coffey

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Dodgers have declined to exercise their 2013 options on outfielder Juan Rivera, reliever Todd Coffey and backup catcher Matt Treanor. Rivera is due a 500,000 buyout since the club turned down his 4 million option. He batted .244 with 47 RBIs while switching between left field and first base in his first season with Los Angeles. Dodgers give Brandon League a three year deal

The Los Angeles Dodgers have reportedly given reliever Brandon League a three year contract extension. The monetary part of the agreement is still unknown. The 29-year old League was acquired by the team last July from the Mariners. Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times first reported the deal. While bringing back League was a priority of Dodgers GM Ned Colletti, the terms seem to...

Free agent preview: Los Angeles Dodgers

The 2012 Dodgers started out like a house of fire....and then hit the wall once Matt Kemp went down with hamstring issues, missing most of May and June. The team eventually ceded their NL West lead to the World Champion Giants, despite a summer spending spree that saw them acquire Hanley Ramirez, Josh Beckett, Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, Joe Blanton, and Shane Victorino. ...

Dodgers open to dealing Andre Ethier?

ESPN’s Buster Olney dropped a bomb on Twitter Monday night. Apparently, the Los Angeles Dodgers are willing to move outfielder Andre Ethier after he signed a five year, $85 million deal during the season. There’s plenty of teams looking to add serviceable outfielders (cough Yankees cough), so a deal for Andre Ethier could actually come to fruition as free agency begins. Ethier...

Kershaw wins Clemente Award

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw has won the Roberto Clemente award, given annually to a major league player who gives back through community service and also excels on the field. The award was announced Sunday before Game 4 of the World Series. Boston's David Ortiz won last year. Clemente was a Hall of Fame right fielder with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He died in a...

Clayton Kershaw Attends Justin Bieber, Carly Rae Jepsen Concert After Winning Roberto Clemente Award

Clayton Kershaw had all the reason in the world to celebrate this weekend. Major League Baseball recognized the Dodgers' pitcher, honoring him with the Roberto Clemente Award. Kershaw became the youngest player to win the award, which honors an athlete who is the best ambassador for the game on and off the field. He certainly took an uncharacteristic route...
