According to Chris at Dodgerfan.net, the Dodgers are the favorite in Las Vegas to win the World Series, with odds at Mandalay Bay at 7-2.
But now, with one-third of the season under the belt, it’s a good time to examine just where the Dodgers stand. As of the morning of June 5, LA leads the NL West by 8 games over the San Francisco Giants. Even though Manny Ramirez hasn’t stepped to the plate in weeks, the Dodgers still lead the NL in batting at .282. Juan Pierre has actually hit better (.367) than Manny (.348) since taking over left field. Orlando Hudson has arguably been the best free-agent signing of the year, sporting a sick .406 OBP and hitting .324. O-Dog is on pace to score 117 runs right now — and will have Manny back to knock him in starting in July. That would shatter his career high of 87 with the D-Back...

Pedro Martinez Update
Free agent pitcher Pedro Martinez is still working out in the Dominican Republic in preparation for a team making him an offer. The economic recession has tightened the belts of nearly every major league franchise, which has led to very few signings off the free agent market. Yet, Martinez is still asking for 5 million dollars for the season. The Rays and Cubs reportedly have some...

Q&A with a Dodgers blogger
We're trying to talk to a blogger for the opponent at the beginning of each series to give you a little glimpse into who the Rangers are playing. Eric Stephen, who blogs on truebluela.com, answered a few questions for us. Here they are:
Give us your perspective on the job Joe Torre has done and what makes him such a good manager.
Torre is a pretty even-keeled guy. He never...
Juan Pierre's hot hitting will get him a seat on Dodgers bench
Although the veteran outfielder has hit .348 during Manny Ramirez's suspension, he'll be a reserve once the star slugger returns in early July.
In the lineup every game for the last five-plus weeks, Juan Pierre has finally made enough plate appearances to be counted among the league's batting leaders.
Pedro Martinez, Chicago Cub?
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Cubs (and the Rays) have watched Pedro Martinez in the Dominican and are pondering how much money it would take to sign him.Which is good news, because Pedro has a career batting line of .100/.134/.124. He'll fit right in!Reading deeper into the story, it appears the Cubs (and Rays) are thinking of using him as a pitcher. Never mind.
Billingsley gets NL-best 9th victory for Dodgers
Chad Billingsley got the grounder he was hoping for when he threw the pitch. Except the double play got botched and the Los Angeles Dodgers got behind.

DODGERS 6, RANGERS 3

Rangers-Dodgers game delayed by faulty bank of lights
Is there an electrician in the house?
The Rangers and Dodgers are delayed by a faulty bank of lights in the top of the sixth inning. The score is 0-0.
Scott Feldman and Dodgers starter Randy Wolf have been superb, but who knows if either will be back in the game when it resumes. The longer the delay, the more likely it is that neither will return.
Rangers lose power to help Dodgers halt skid
A power outage helped put an end to the Texas Rangers' shutout streak, and keep the Los Angeles Dodgers from their first three-game losing skid of the season.
