Judging from the way the Yankees have handled him, it is safe to assume that we have seen the last of Alex Rodriguez in the 2012 postseason. It does not even appear that he will pinch hit going forward. How did it come to this? And, why? When Raul Ibanez pinch hit for A-Rod in Game 3 of the ALDS, I understood and applauded Joe Girardi for the move. It took guts to remove a player who, at one time, was considered one of the best ever and who still makes more money than anyone else in the game. Most people thought it would end there. But things got more interesting when A-Rod was benched for Game 5. The message then was that Alex Rodriguez couldn't do it anymore. He was on the decline. He was a part-time player making a superstar's salary. What would the team do with him for the five years remaining on his contract? When he was pinch it for in Game 1 of the ALCS, it was almost a non-story, until the New York Post Page 6 story came out after Game 2. He was benched for Game 3, and...

  • ARod may not be hitting in this series , but neither is Teixeira, Granderson, Swisher and Cano. The blame should not be on ARod exclusively.

Signed New Yorkers”This is obviously a shot at A-Rod after the news broke that he was hitting on Kyna Treacy,...

Report: A-Rod went on a date with an Aussie bikini model following Yankees' ALCS Game 1 loss

Treacy’s friends say that she and A-Rod went on a date.“I think she was pleasantly...

New York Post Rips Alex Rodriguez, Yankees With 'We Don't Date Losers' Cover (Photos)

As beautiful as Kyna Treacy may be, she still dates losers. Just don't tell the New York Post that. After being benched in Game 1 of ALCS, Alex Rodriguez apparently hit on two female fans

Alex Rodriguez is having a rough postseason. And with Yankees president Randy Levine unwilling to commit to A-Rod for next season at this point, who knows if this is the last postseason that we’ll see A-Rod in pinstripes. One tidbit that probably won’t help A-Rod’s chances of returning to the Yankees is a report in the New York Post that A-Rod wasn’t fully focused on Saturday’s...

New York Post mocks Yankees, Alex Rodriguez

The New York Yankees were eliminated from postseason play after they were swept away by the Detroit Tigers in the ALCS. Anything that could wrong for the Yanks did go wrong. Lack of hitting, a broken ankle, and scouting for babes rather than playing baseball all contributed to their ultimate demise. And the New York Post added salt to the wound by running this cover on Friday...

No pinch hitter for A-Rod -- he isn't even in Yankees' lineup

Alex Rodriguez's name was not on the New York Yankees' lineup card for Game 4 of the ALCS, and although the game was postponed by rain, the three-time AL MVP is expected to be benched when the Yankees and Tigers resume the series Thursday at Comerica Park. "I'm obviously not doing somersaults," Rodriguez said. "I'm not happy about it. Obviously, you...

Alex Rodriguez Says He'll Be Back With Yankees in 2013 Amid Heavy Speculation About His Future

During this postseason, Alex Rodriguez has almost become a sympathetic figure. Imagine that. That little incident where the third baseman reportedly tried to hit on a woman behind the Yankees' dugout during the game notwithstanding, Rodriguez has seemed to be largely scapegoated by the team for its collective offensive struggles, yet handled it with grace. Amid being pinch hit...

Schmidt: A-Rod was cursed once he got big contract

(Eds: Adds photos. With AP Photos.) By MIKE SCHMIDT For The Associated Press There was a time when Alex Rodriguez was touted as the guy who could relieve us of Barry Bonds as the home run king. He was young, healthy and an MVP contender every year. If anyone deserved $30 million a year, it was him. That's a stretch - ''deserve'' $30 million a year. Maybe discovering...
